You might be better off asking this in the production area - http://www.dubstepforum.com/viewforum.php?f=8

Personally I think a lot of the non standard ones can sound awfully thin. I dunno but I always seem to use the standard waveforms at least layered with others.

In general I've kind of ruined a lot of virtual synths though by buying an original Korg MS-20. Nothing seems to sound as warm and thick as that.

I love how Chrome, an octave or two down, position fully to the right sounds. Rumbly goodness.

I kinda dig Frozen.

if you modulate the wave position on carbon it sounds pretty sick

Chrome? Deep Throat? What kind of oscillators are those??? Idk, i don't like massive with all the crazy waveforms...

What? Really? Massive is amazing! Its one of the most versatile synths once you learn to use it.

Try Scrap Yard!

ive heard it. sounds good. But its just kinda strange with all the weird waveforms

Yeah man, but if everyone were using the same saws, squares, sines, etc, there wouldn't be as many interesting sounds out there. Using wavetables gives you a truly unique sound. Play with it and you will be hooked.

Carbon is pretty good; it's got alot of good harmonics to it. Scrapyard is good, especially if you automate the w/t position.
Of course, using the phase modulation can make any oscillator go fucking crazy. It's incredible.
Modern talking is kinda cool, although a bit overused. It's funny how everyone assumes every talking bass is just massive, modern talking, filter, LFO cutoff.
Flanders is pretty good. Modulating the wavetables on scrapyard yields some pretty messed up shit; using the phase mod would really bug it out.

just curious: does anyone know what these wavetables were origionally sampled from? analogue synths?

I love massive, but no fucking way would I use it for a bassline (what it's intended for). Too many people use it. It also lacks a lot of warmth, something I love in sounds.

thats why you resample. add some harmonics.

or you could just pass it through some analog gear and see how that works for you to get that warmt:)

I just wish that I could see what they look like... I have no idea if they are going to sound siney or squarey... Means I need to spend more time getting to know them I guess
