Merky Ace is part of a fresh generation of grime MCs dubbed ‘The New Wave” that are filling the void left by their older generation making the transition to pop artists. Blue Battlefield his debut mixtape is an exciting mixture of tracks and freestyles confirming Merky is one of the grime scene’s most exciting new artists.
Hailing from Lewisham, Merky has built his name on pirate radio with his crew Family Tree (other members include M.I.K, TKO, Shif Man and Ego) as well at events such as No Hats No Hoods, Westwood Crib sessions and Just Jam winning fans with his raw uncompromising style. This year he has built nicely on his underground buzz by collaborating with Starkey on PC released on No Hats No Hoods Records and on Kozzie’s allstar Spartan Remix which is fast becoming this years Grime anthem which has received huge support from the likes of Mista Jam, Logan Sama, and Cameo.
Highlights of the CD are Come Lets Rally which sees all of Family Tree going lyric for lyric pirate radio style, Where’s you Head at giving the Basement Jaxx classic a grimey remix and a big vocal of Doctor P’s Reason remix.
