What is the bennefit of bouncing midi to audio for editing?

If i have a midi track routed to a vsti then what is the benefit or what effects processing can I do on an audio file that I couldn't do otherwise.

There are plenty of benefits, you can pitch stretch, chop the audio up and make stutters, speed up, slow down. you just have more control of everything in general after you bounce to audio. (of course after the midi is perfect

+ you free up processing power, that the VSTs require.

I find it a lot easier to chop up baselines and blend bass parts together when they are audio. You get some really unexpected and interesting results when you start messing with sample start times, timestretching, repitching, and reversing. Plus it frees up CPU for crazy long effects chains with multiple automations.

ive never done it yet, since i dont really make glitchy or stuttery songs. but it is pretty much the only way I can think of to chop up basslines and mix them and really
with your basslines to make em sound better and to mix them up if your song gets too repetitive.
