I want to get to the roots of dubstep

Alright guys so heres me dilemma.
I started producing last year after falling in love with Datsik, Excision, and Skrillex's work (dont flame me just help).
Due to this the only kind of dubstep i know is the more midrange rottun records style dubstep, and i feel i dont know enough of the roots of dubstep, no matter how much i want to learn.

Ive decided to start producing some roots and original dubstep. The thing is i dont know how to start.
The point of this thread is i was wondering what your favorite "original" dubstep artists are, so i can see what its all about, and so i know generally what it sounds like cuz frankly i havent a clue.
:dunce:

Then listen to 3 & 5 over and over and over and over.. to the point where when you hear a tune from the mix in a club... you can't help but mix the next tune from the mix in your head, then get annoyed when they don't mix that tune, then go home and listen to it again.

lol, sometimes I want to hear the mix so much i actually trick myself into hearing a sound from the next tune you expect to come in a then feel even more gutted when it doesnt.

In all reality start at the allstar compilations. beautiful mixing. If you start to feel a liking for those cute shuffly rhythms, then the roots shit is GOLDEN, El-B in particular

i would go:

horsepower productions - in fine style
rephlex grime comps 1 & 2
roots of dubstep
allstars series (start with 1, its amazing and shows you where the sound came from and what it sounded like at first, before halftime became the formula)
and i would peep the early tempa, big apple, hyperdub and dmz releases as well
