any who i have alot of tracks that read 70 bpm... i know this is halftime and what not but how do you transition into a 140 bpm track from a 70 bpm track i am just djing using traktor pro 2... are there settings i have to mess with or do i just try and match the first bar together and the 140 bpm will play one bar while the 70 bpm is playing 2 bars??? im reall confused on this so i may just be talkin out my anus... butany input in plain english would be much appreciated... thanks :W:

I'm not a proper DJ by any stretch of the imagination, but there shouldn't be any problems mixing a 70bpm and 140bpm track if I'm not mistaken...I don't understand the science or math of it, but since 70 is half 140 you can just mix. This happens a lot in Virtual DJ when I'd mixed DnB in the past 'cept it was 85/170.

Urm, yeah i have actually set up a few buttons on my midi controller to fix this. on the midi mapping section in the preferences, theres a bit, can remember under what menu for mapping the tempo X2 or /2 (it doesnt effect playback) Have to use it all the time. sorry its a bit vauge, but have a look in the midi mapping section, its there. you can even set it to a laptop keyboard keys if needed.

its not hard, trakor gets confused with dubstep tunes, often says 140 or 70 depending on what it thinks, however this has nothing to do with proper mixing. for the most part if a song is at half the tempo of another you can USUALLY mix them together. the BPM that traktor reads will not affect mixing if you are beatmatching because it doesnt matter. the only way it would matter is if you are using the sync function aka cheating(lol). but that is a simple case of doubling the bpm which is a function in the program.

depone... as in producer?? if so big ups and ill look in the settings tonight to see if i can find anything that would work... i figured i could just mix OR find a setting that helps with tempo... and i also read some where that i have to turn off the metronome... but dunno what that is

when i use sync from 140 to 70 or vice versa it just doubles the speed or cuts it in half so its stupid fast or mad slow... so for me... sync on works with similar bpms... so dunno what ya mean??

There is a button in the grid panel that says "x2" in the track you're making 140 bpm. It will change the value of the bpm without actually changing the bpm itself. Or in the grid section, you can drag the bpm number up or down to make the value anything you want without changing the actual bpm. :t:

This. There is a little down arrow to the bottom right of the waveform viewer. Click it, then click grid. Then click X2 and it will make your BPM magically correct

I agree with the 'change the 70 to 140' thing, Traktor just reads sound peaks (and assumes they're drum hits) to figure out how long the bar is I think. Besides clicking the x2 button or dragging up the BPM,you can also highlight the BPM and type in 140.

awesome thank you! this is much better than the last thread i read and alot more useful info... so thank you all :) one last question... now i am assuming this scenario.... i am playing a 140bpm track on deck A and i have a 70 bpm cued on deck B so i would click grid x2.... now the opposite way... 70 bpm playing on deck A and 140 bpm cued on deck B... i would click 1/2 under grid?? correct?

or would i just basically put anything that is at 70bpm and do the x2 on the grid that way everything just plays at 140bpm... that sounds right?? i think -q-

Analyse the 70 bpm track as a 140 bpm track, or the other way around - Job done.

Yeah you can, read the manual mate... Or search on youtube, you'll probably be able to find some way to change it.
