I never understood the benefits of using a transient shaper.
Anyone here that can clarify?

I have a couple of these plugins, what kinda settings would one go about putting on them?
U know, to make my bass sound like excisions.
seriously tho, got any ideas on how to tweak the parameters to achieve this "smack" effect?

did you see the demonstration video?

TransDes vst is a great wee freebie
http://www.stormrecordingstudio.co.uk/VST.htm
the Fruity Waveshaper also is part of Fl Studio if you use it but Schaak-Audio is worth its weight in gold!
here's a great wee tutorial in all the main functions of a trans shaper plugin ie adding punch, removing reverb etc
http://audio.tutsplus.com/tutorials/mix ... our-mixes/
hope that helps

No they are the opposite. They are like expanders

Depends on how you use your compressors
I swear half the time I'm expanding with my compressor. (or more)
I now swear by Shaack's Transient Shaper 2. Really simple to use, and produces amazing results. You really can do amazing things with this thing.

True 'dat, if you have a slower attack on a compressor you can get a similar effect.
However another +1 to Shaack, it is awesome. Easy to over do though.
Oh and the guy in the SPL video sounds like a PIMP!!
