What does greetz mean? haha but thanks a lot! This one took a surprisingly short amount of time to produce, it just all fell together quickly!

Definitely dark, but good. I like the sound of the main synth you use.

Thanks it was the type of synth where not much had to be processed, but everthing had to be just right to get that crunchy yet sizzling sound. I am going to use that type synth in a lot more of my songs.
By the way I checked out the post in your signature, I liked it quite a bit!

Yeah how do you get a sound like that then without resampling a lot? Because I love those types of sounds but I can't resample for shite (I feel like one of those people building an Ikea product and following all the instructions and yet everything gets put on backwards..) so I stay away from it and try to get the sound just straight from the synth with some 1st chain effects and nothing more. Granulation?
But yeah, sick ass track

Here is a basic idea of how I got the sound
NI Massive one soft/square wave with an LFO on the wavetable between more soft and more square. I have this oscillator on the "Bend +/-" option to scroll through the playback of the wave. This is that goes inside of massive.
I send a bus out of Massive to 4 aux tracks. The 1st is the unaffected dry signal. The next is 3 aux tracks which have been split according to bandwidth: low, mid high. The lows I add slight compression and leave the rest unaffected. The mid I add a sugarbytes WOW filter with a band reject vowel sound and a WOW lowpass filter with high resonance. On the mids I also apply an amp simulator that has a lot of that Crunchy distortion. On the high's I have similar filters to different settings and a frequency shifter that is oscillating in sync with an LFO a Lo-Fi unit with a low sample rate, and another really crunchy distortion.
It didn't really involve any resampling just a bit of layering and bussing and getting the parameters just right so that it sound crunchy instead of mushy and noisish

Oh wow, that was actually really specific! I was expecting a vague answer, that's really helpful! And from what I understood about resampling, it kinda sounds like that's what you did..Just you didn't necessarily bounce separate copies in and out, just the same one but with the multiple sends acting as the "resamples". Cause I've also heard that you gotta split the frequencies when you try to resample, like you also did haha. If you don't mind me asking though, what's a WOW filter? I've never heard of that, I understood everything else you mentioned so I just wanna "get" that.
But in short, basically "a crap ton of effects", yes? haha

Thanks. I listened to the song in your signature. I also like the bass in that. Is it also massive?
From what I've seen a wow filter is kind of like adding a low pass with high resonance, then adding a sample and hold, then moving the cutoff around. Doing so creates a ya ya sound. Just an example. The sugarbytes plugin looks awesome.

Yeah when I started producing I would get kinda pissed off on websites when I was trying to learn and everyone just gives vague unhelpful answers, so I try to be as detailed as possible so it's actually worth your time to read.
Yeah for me and my style of producing, the only time I "resample" or bounce files out is when I want to load a sample I have created into my Kontakt unit and muck around with it in there. I think you are spot on in saying that using bussing tracks out can affect audio the exact same way as bouncing it out and loading it back in, but in method they are a little bit different and I think I have more control when everything is just on separate aux tracks rather than in different "permanent" wave files. I like that when I have different "layers" I can tweek them all at the same time so that they work cohesively together as well as still going into massive and affecting the source of the sound, and all of this can be done very quickly.
The sugarbyte's WOW filter is just the name of the filter I use. I used Massive's internal filter for a long time (and still do sometimes) but the reason I like WOW so much and recommend it is that it literally does all your filtering needs. Since I started using it I really haven't needed to use a different filter.

Well bless you for that, being only 2 months into producing myself, that's exactly the type of helpful understanding I need when I'm trying to continuously learn and improve. The fact that you're able to successfully "resample" without actually resampling in the traditional sense is inspiring me to give it another try, but within the aux tracks. And I'll look into the WOW filter too. So you're saying you won't need to turn on Massive's internal filters 1+2 at all if you're using the wow filter? It's that effective? Because I might try that out then. And thanks again for your insight! By the way, why is it that your soundcloud tracks have such huge MBs? I only downloaded My Heart Beating Faster for that very reason :/ Loved all the tracks though, regardless.

Synth filtering isn't really a part of synthesis it doesn't matter if you are using it internally or not it will affect the sound in the same way, and I since it matters if filtering come before or after distortion it can be nice to have a nice filter plug in so that you can be more selective on where the filter goes in the effects chain. Also the sugarbytes WOW filter does everything that I could do within NI Massive with its envelopes and lfos except it also has the vowel controls and a surpisingly amazing overdrive unit built in. I reccomend having a filter other than the NI Filter just so you can more control of the FX chain
Sorry about the big files, I guess I just don't think about it when I'm uploading. I wish soundcloud was like bandcamp so that you could upload high quality audio but the user can download it in different file formats.
