Define big name artist?

Your getting into a big difference discussing Rabbit In The Moon/Deadmau5/Keoki/Jackal n Hyde vs. the dubstep 'heavyweights'...

don't their labels pay their flights?

I heard Rusko gets like 10,000 quid a show. Don't quote me on it though.

Find that slightly unlikely. :|

I don't know but to give you a figure on what bands could be making:

My ex girlfriend suckered me into going to a show for this horrendous band she likes called "Needtobreathe". It was at a fairly large venue but wasn't necessarily packed out. She had volunteered to help sell merch beforehand and I tagged along to get in free (No way I was paying the 30$ to get in).

Anyway long story short together we sold about 5000$ in t shirts and cd's that night. Add on what they probably got @ the door and you've got bands still making a decent living. Now I don't know if these electronic artists are making nearly as much, but even less than half of what this band made is a decent living.

EDIT: But until you're national touring expect to be paid dogs bollocks. If you even get paid at all it'll be like 250$ tops. :P

For decent name DJs you can expect to pay somewhere around £2 - 4k but this depends on things like whether they are touring at the time, where they need to fly in from (cost of flights is usually absorbed by the promotor / booker).

People like Crookers won't consider a show for less than £10k and I imagine it's the same for the big names in dubstep like Rusko etc!

Obviously the agent gets paid out of the artist fee though...

I can imagine Magnetic Man getting a lot for their shows

The BIG names like Magnetic Man, The Prodigy, Deadmau5 - basically the mainstream pop crossover artists. They are definitely swimming in cash. No doubt about that. People who are big in the scene but not necessarily mainstream like Reso, Pinch etc they are probably quite well off but not rich by western standards.

I hardly doubt rusko gets paid 10k for a show. It cost 2k to bring Tim Westwood down, but he normal price was 2.5k but links from links got discount. So if he gets paid that much rusko for shit is not getting paid 10k. Whether you like tim or not, but the fact is he is bigger in name and fans then rusko, he knows most of the big hip hop n rnb singer in person, image how many songs get sent this way.

There's no doubt in my mind that Rusko would be getting upward of £7k

Everybody knows Tim Westwood but he's a very gimmicky act to book - Rusko can sell tickets at a higher price so therefore would get paid more

Yeah, I think 30k is a bit of an over estimate

Unless the agent took him for a ride!

do the math:

figure the capacity of a venue and ticket price. If a place holds 2500 people and tickets are $30/each, then that's essentially a $75,000 door budget for a show. subtract expenses such as promotions, production rentals, transport costs/flight shares, supporting acts budgets (rarely above $2k total) and a cut to the house, and what you're left with is the artist fee and promoters profit.
