Please don't get the behringers. KRK's are good value low end monitors. I don't know what they cost down there, but should be in your budget. If they are just above, save up a bit.

I use the KRK RP6G2, I'd suggest you to go into a store and give them all a listen, a really good learning experience when you notice differences between the monitors. Just bring a CD with songs you know are well mastered/you like the sound of and see how they are on the monitors in the price range.

Fuck Behringer and KRK off, you could get some Mackie monitors for that price.
I'm getting some Adam or Genelec next, still can't decide.

FWIW.. I have heard very good mixes come from the Behringer Truths, though the room they were
used in may have been very well treated and the user knew them inside out.
cheers

I got no monitors just yet either. Right now I'm working off of "AirWave" speakers and a Sony subwoofer and also with monitor headphones

Dynaudio BM6A MK1s
In your price range you should try to buy a nicer monitor used.
I always hear good things about the Mackies but don't have any experience with them.

Pair of old JBL speakers + one of those 2.1 sets that's way too loud on the low end. Trying to balance that out through
an even older Marantz amp.

The numbers refer to the cone size, and the bigger the cone, the bigger & lower the bass response… so get the biggest you can afford/fit in your studio… the M-Audio BX5a’s are made to work with BX-10 Sub woofer, however…
So they will reproduce mids and highs very well, but you’ll be lacking deep bass...
I have BX8’s… and don’t need a sub.
