Nearly every dubstep night/rave i have been to someone has been smoking a spliff in the venue. DMZ at mass i found was the worse, i have asthma and this as you can imagine effects me quite badly at points, coughing and splutering and having to leave the sets to get fresh air when it does happen. Dont get me wrong im not slagging weed off or the people that smoke it because sometimes i eat it and would probly smoke it if i could. I just find it weird how when a cigarette is sparked in the venue people generally seem to get pissy and it usually gets put out, but with a spliff alot of the time its just ignored and accepted. Yet this is causing the same problems for people like me and others who generally dont like smoke.

I accept im a minority with this and most people wont give a fuck, but all im saying is cant you just walk a few meters down the road and smoke it discretely and not affect anyone with the fumes!

its probz cuz a cigarette is nothing but filthy smelling poison with zero redeeming qualities and makes every environment worse off, whilst nugget has a sweet and agreeable scent and actually makes you feel good, rather than sick.

Also a cigarette hater... Snowbombing festival was horrible, almost back like the UK used to be really.

Weed, well the only annoying thing about that in a club for me is that it makes me want to jack the joint

love cigs, love weed, dont see a problem with either except that cigs do kill you haha. but just know that the guy lighting a spliff is just trying to have as a good of a time as you are and im pretty sure there isn't anyone out there (except thse with asthma) that would want to see smoking banned from clubs

I think the only reason people would smoke inside dmz as opposed to going down the road is the police, also more importantly, weed is the drug dubstep was based on, it was only when the smoking ban came in that people decided to use alternative, trendy drugs. I wish I could smoke a joint every dubstep event i attended or performed at, unfortunately, government legislation has forbidden this from happening (unless your in Amsterdam).

I am a smoker, but even I have formed an intolerance to cigarette smoke in enclosed spaces.

i always make sure to light my spliff when one of my favorite tracks comes on.

I agree weed correspond better with the meditative state of mind than other drugs but saying dubstep was based on weed or on any other illicit substance is not right.

I understand your problem and I can imagine that it would suck. But bass and weed is just the best combo there is.
I've personally never been to a rave where I didn't smoke a couple of spliffs.

I don't have any qualms with tobacco, to be clear. I don't use it but whatever, if u like tobacco thats cool
no one can really deny though that cigs are nothing but poison
Its like tobacco soaked in poisonous additives so that it smells nasty and kills you quicker

Regular tobacco smoke smells almost as good as weed smoke

smoking bud in a public place like a venue is just sharing the high with everyone around you

smoking a cig in same context is like trying to give everyone around you cancer

Err, just to confirm, a massive amount of people were smoking cigarettes in Mass this year. Hardly saw any spliffs in the crowd .

I do think that absolutely everyone should be able to enjoy a rave, but one does have to accept that they're not exactly the accommodating of places to the average human. Which is why they're so awesome.

Anyway, sorry you've got asthma but it sucked when the smoking ban came in.. even my mates with it used to bun in dances such was the good vibes! Weed apparently helps asthma too, relaxes the bronchioles...

I can see where you're coming from, I absolutely hate passive smoke, but I smoke weed myself so I kind of just get on with it, although I don't really find weed smoke to be that bad because it smells amazing... Smoking cigarretes in clubs annoys me though, cause they do fuck all and normally there's a lot more cigs on the go than there are joints...

yeah same, whenever someone near me sparks up i just think fuck i wish i'd brought some...

to be honest mate, ashtma or no ashtma everyone nearly died at DMZ due to lack of breathing space. Stop your bitchin.

I dislike cigs tho. Ive never smoked one and hopefully never will. The urge for joints is there no doubt but never a cig. (im kinda proud of that in a fucked up kinda way)
