Real deal, performance art / demonstration or just another emo? Guess we'll find out soon enough... Can't see how he's planning on giving a speech after killing himself though, but that's probably part of the fun.
And for peace too, that's awfully charitable. Much more productive than say, volunteer for UN service clearing up some landmines or something lame like that.
Oh, and his full name and contactinfo is the WHOIS database.

Some bits I dug up because I'm funny like that:
He's in a band called We Carry Thy Banner (
myspace), he put some
stuff up on the web and
made a cd.
Apparently his name is Hopkins and his friend Nick is probably upset.
He seems to be in another band called
Altamont Union as well.
On March 25th, he uploaded some
crazy ramblings to his website. He also put it on wikipedia, and ubersite, which
led to some discussion.
He did this using the username
Lobsterkins.
And lo and behold, he also
posted his own story on Digg using the same name.
According to the band's flyers on myspace, that's also his AIM address.
The whois record for his domainname has his phonenumber, but it might not be correct.
That's pretty much all the mud raking I have patience for right now, but if anybody here lost their dog, first-born or other small mammal, I've got an empty slot thursday morning.

I am going to kill myself for peace to prove the futility of fighting a War for Peace. Shortly afterwards, I will read a statement regarding my sacrifice. It will basically say, "Chris died for peace."
How's he going to read a statement if he's deaded on the ground?

whatever. I lived in Santa Cruz for 7 years. I live not far from Livermore now.
This kid, IMO, is like on of many that living in such places breeds - over-dramatic, over-inflated sense of self-worth, bored, got too messed up on drugs that mom n dad paid for to have any idea of how to move forward.
Suicide very rarely carries any symbolic weight, and this guys idea isn't getting him any closer to that idea.
do want to see zombie-suicide-guy reading a manifesto in front of a gas station, though, I'd bring popcorn for that.

i've been trying to track down my college roommate and he turns up all over google but i can't find direct contact info and the indirect means i've tried going through have all been fruitless

Well, I googled for some news outlets in Livermore, cause I figured if someone offed themselves in front of a gas station in NorCal, it'd probably make the front page... but nothin.
No mention of it anywhere, not even as performance art.
Cant find too much more about him online except for whats been posted in here already, and nothing from after his supposed deadline...

"This is Chris Hopkins' friend Eric. I was the only one (i think) who had his password on Myspace.
