Cons :
I'll edit the main post .
----------------------------
Pioneer CDJ-800
Price :$600-$800
Pros : VERY sturdy beast, BPM detection and looping functions built in, it's almost the same as the CDJ-1000 so everyone knows how it works.
Cons : no built-in effects, the tempo can only be changed by +- .05%
Overall, I think this is a great CD player and a nice and much cheaper alternative to the famous CDJ-1000. Some people even scratch with it.
Mind you, 800MKI and 800MKII are similar-looking but have quite a different feature set. For example, MKII plays mp3-cd's.
Stanton C. 324
Price : $350-$400 each.
Pros : 4 drum machine-style cue buttons, built-in sampler, plays both CD's and mp3's, 7 built-in effects, comparable to CDJ 1000 but less than half the price
Cons : Has a somewhat cheap feel, sampler/chop only goes down to 1/4 beat (most dj's want 1/16), only semi-decent scratching
Kam KCD450l
Price : about £200 each
Pros : Great build quality for the price; laid out and operates a lot like a pioneer cdj; excellent pitch control (longer and more precise than a cdj 1000 - 0.01% increments); usb pen drive support; cd slot pulls in and ejects discs very quickly
Cons : bpm counter might as well not be there as it doesn't work in the slightest; occasional minor sound quality glitches when using CDs; USB devices are awkward to navigate; built-in effects are not great
Overall, ridiculously good for the price!
