iTunes Exclusives

Why do labels fucking do this?

It seriously pisses me off, surely they're (the labels) losing countless sales from doing this? I'd imagine a pretty large, if not the majority of their potential buyers are DJs and are after 320/WAV formats?

I genuinely can't see a reason why an artist or label would want to do this? What's so good about iTunes? How does it benefit anyone?
:u:

Have only just been able to get Pow (Skream Remix) in 320 off of Beatport. I do think its stupid when labels do this. Most people that would purchase a track from itunes are more likely to download it illegally than purchase it. Apart from making them look better in the charts as its the only place it can be purchased from, I do not see ANY benefit of doing this.

Think I'm gonna boycott releases that do this. Everyone should!

Suprised artists are happy to let labels do this with their work too.

I can see the problem here. But the worst thing for me is the geographical restrictions the labels put on big releases. I am totally unable to get hold of any of the 100% pure dubstep tracks because i live in Denmark. It's bollocks. And yeah, i generally boycott Itunes.

I thought the algorithm for their encoding for 256kbps meant it was identical in quality to 320mp3?

I have no idea what this means

Are tunes purchased on iTunes 320? I thought they weren't but I could be wrong...

I want "Slang Like This" but it's only available on iTunes. I usually buy all my digital tunes off of Juno Download. But even that doesn't have a lot of stuff. What are your favorite digital sites?

Especially when any music you get off of I tunes is deleted and taken from you when you get a new I pod.

I mean that the majority of people who only have songs to play in itunes (who dont care about bit rates/dont DJ) are more likely to illegally download the song than purchase it from itunes. They are severely limiting their market by only selling on itunes. DJs wont purchase from there due to the quality of the file and people that are left who would want dubstep track etc are more likely to illegally download it than buy it.

I think thats what i mean.

i wanted to buy redlight´s remix of get wild and kulture´s looking glass tunes, but bam! not available in your country.

As i can understand kulture for putting his tracks up there himself, i think a label going for itunes only release is stupid

Yep that's my fave too. Only things I buy elsewhere are the Juno and Beatport exclusives, but overall DT has good selection.

They don't use mp3s for encoding so it's plausible, but unlikely.

I go to Bleep, followed by Boomkat, followed by Juno.

Fucking fuck, also just tried to buy 'Skream - Xmas Day' and 'Distance - Chopper' off that 100% Dubstep compilation..... you can't buy certain tracks seperately  I own pretty much every other track on the compilation :/ not worth buying the whole album for 2 tracks!

Record labels are either trolling us or secretly want us to download their files illegally. It's certainly encouraging it.
