How to modulate LFO rate in Massive with FL Studio 10?

What I've been doing when I make a new bassline pattern with Massive in FL Studio 10 is assign the exact same sound to different channels, the only difference in all of them is their LFO rates. So I end up having like 10 channels with 1/4, 1/8, 1/12, 3/16...etc. on them, and they all have the exact same sound. What I would like to be able to do is modulate the LFO rate so I can have just one channel with the same sound on it...saving mixer space, channel pattern space, and CPU usage. That way I can have a lot more sounds in my songs. That's really the only thing holding me back now.

I'm really hoping there is a way of doing this...can anyone give me a hand?

i automate it by linking a macro control

you could a) resample the sound at various lfo speeds then chop them up as you desire
b) you could move the number you want to change on the rate in massive, then go to tools > last tweeked > edit events or create automation clip
c) on the browser on the left of FL, go to Current Project > Generators > Massive > MODULATOR X NUM / MODULATOR X DEN (where x is the lfo # you're using and num = numerator, den = denominator), right click which ever you want to edit then edit events or create automation clip or the easiest way/shorter version of c
d) in massive click the \/ in the top left corner and go to browser parameters, find MOD X NUM/DEN. there you go have fun

bonus: changing a parameter or even sometimes just hovering your mouse over it while the browser is on browse parameters will highlight the parameter you're changing

Are you using the most up to date version of Massive? If so, the LFO sync can be automated using the standard Last Tweaked Parameter > Link To controller function.

If you're not using the most up to date version, I'd suggest logging into the NI website via your user details when you bought Massive, where you can download the upgrade patch (I think v1.2.1 is the latest at this time)

There is too much pessimism round here and people getting tarred & feathered as soon as the M word is mentioned. I think moving forward, it'd be healthier for the Production board as a whole is we assume that people are using legit copies of Massive, and answer their questions as such.

If, at a later point down the line, it is revealed that the copy of Massive is cracked, then fair enough, my advise will only go so far. But as far as blanket labelling everyone who has a Massive issue with the same tag, tbh it's gotten a bit boring recently.

NB: That last point is a reflection of the attitude of the Production board as a whole, not singling out anyone in particular.

Innocent until proven guilty where Massive is concerned wouldn't be a bad thing on the production board in fairness ;)

Besides, the majority of Massive questions usually fall into only a couple of categories;

Q) How do I automate the LFO?
A) The latest patch of Massive has the LFO sync as a parameter that can be automated. If the user does not have the latest version, direct them to the NI site to download it.

Q) How do I make this sound?
A) Either direct them to the How Do I Make This Sound thread, or if it's a specific question involving Skrillex/Datsik/Borgore etc, either direct them to the Announcement thread at the top or else to one of the many Resampling threads

I do agree with you wub, it is more professional and kind of "cleans up" dsfp a bit, after reading that new thread from ledgend4ry about how dsfp is going down the shitter.

I definitely bought Massive...from Guitar Center, of all places. I'm running 1.2.1 on it, so that shouldn't be an issue for anything. I'll be sure to try these things out, thanks DSF!

If you haven't sorted it out yet, make sure your lfo is set to time-sync with FL. Then click the dropdown arrow at the top left corner of the synth and click "Browse all parameters" then change the denominator on the LFO speed...when you do this, the browser will jump to the denominator parameter. right click on that and do what you want with it, edit events or create automation clip or link to controller etc.

I already posted that ;) and assumed he was already using a synced lfo since he is talking about specific rates

At the top left of the massive window, there is a drop down icon, click that and go to 'browse all parameters'.

If you click on a knob in massive it will automatically jump the the parameter which it controls, you can right click on that and edit events/create auto clip.

put filter lfo 5 on cutoff and put lfo 6 on the rate of lfo 5 and change that lfo 6 to a step sequencer or performer and use that to automate if u want...

Hey I hate to necro a thread that's a couple months old and I'm new to posting here but I found an amazing way to do what you guys are talking about. Automation clips are cool but let's be honest, they take FOREVER to get right. I was reading a post on here recently that has CHANGED THE WAY I deal with automation in FL studio and I just wanted to share the info again.

1. Go to Channels -> Add One -> Fruity Keyboard Controller

2. Tweak the control you want to control -> Go to Tools (top left) -> Last Tweaked -> Link to Controller

[ALTERNATE METHOD:]

Open Massive (or whatever vsti you're using) -> Click the Dropdown arrow at the top left and select Browse Parameters

Twist the knob or tweak the control you want to automate and it should become selected in the browser

Right click on it -> Select Link to Controller
[=======================================]

3. Select the Dropdown box under Internal Controller -> Click Kb Ctrl - Note (u can try velocity later! :D)

4. Select the Kb Controller and you will see two keyboards and three knobs

5. Click the keys on the top keyboard and you will see the knob next to the orange note box moving

This knob's position will become linked to the key you press.
This means that you can select C4, and twist the knob so that massive reads 1/4 (or whatever) and go to the next note
You can click the next note, and twist the knob a little further, so that massive reads 1/8
Now when you're laying down the wobble in your piano roll, you can open the piano roll for Kb Ctrl and paint in the keys
You can visually see where the notes in massive are changing and paint in the key where you want the modulation to change
You can also play around with the release button in Kb Ctrl to make it drop back down to 1/1 when the note isn't painted
This allows you to become VERY dynamic with your modulation EASILY
You no longer have to record modulation live or draw it in with automation clips
Just set up your keys one time and you're good.

I hope this helps you guys as much as it's helped me! ;-)

If you hadn't posted this, I would've. Grasping keyboard controller has been revolutionary.
