seeing as how we have threads on just about every other program and VST, i thought i'd make one for reason, but does anyone know of some good producers that strictly use Reason, i dont wanna use any VST's for fear of messing up my work flow

I don't know of any who use strictly Reason anymore. At some point everyone seems to end up rewiring or moving onto something else but The Widdler, Stenchman and Funtcase used to use it on it's own, now they all rewire I think. Same I think goes for Coki & Mala, I don't know for sure about them though, that's purely from listening to their tunes. Their tracks have a very 'Reasoney' feel about them.
Also, The Prodigy have used it since Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned.

This is just a small example of threads about Reason since the start of the year, might be a handy point to get going with. The search function up in the top right should throw a few more up if you'e inclined to go digging. I'm not a Reason head myself, but if you have any specific questions I'm sure people on here might be able to help.

I think some of the Hospital Records crew still use Reason for a lot of their work. At the end of the day, it's not about what you use but how you use it. Reason is capable of making great sounds and release quality tracks, just like every other DAW.

Yeah, there are a few threads on Reason already.
But The Widdler uses Reason as far as I know. He rewires into Logic, but yeah. Reason is great, even more so if you rewire it.

How do you guys actually edit sounds in detail with Reason. I use pretty much every piece of kit in but
it feels like it misses some editing options. End up changing samples in Audacity

Messing up your workflow??
I've used Reason from version 1 to 3, than I switched to Ableton mainly because of the lack of vst intergration.
Now I use Reason in Ableton and I've never had any regret...
In Reason I've learned a lot about synthesis and stuff but it is too limited for me, I think you've gotta switch, you are using only a tiny bit of the avalible tools.

Reason is amazing, I've used fl studio/ableton and cubase and cant safely say in my opinion of course that reason is superior, obviously its personal preference but i find vsts clobber everything up and dont know just generally dont like them :/ .. check the tune in my sig that was made on reason im not claiming to be an amazing artist using reason haha but idk see for yourself it was a complicated process though I mean you'd have to look into resampling on reason to really compete but if you learn that then you may become the next *insert good producer here*

That's the same progression I had, except I eventually stopped rewiring and just use Ableton now. Would probably still use Reason if I made brostep wobble tings (scream 4 is unmatchable) but I don't so I have no need for it.

I think people often put themselves in that position with vsts. I got to the point where I had tons of them and didn't know what I was doing with them all so I deleted them, bought Alchemy and started using Abletons in-built plug ins. It's much better to have one synth you know really well than loads you have no clue about.

which is why i dont see the need for vst's. reasons plugins are way more than enough to keep me busy, at least for now...and they are fucking quality at that.
i do agree though reason is lacking some features that other daws have, but in my opinion using record picks up a lot of that slack. even that is still missing some features, but really theres nothing that cant get done with the duo. you might have to work around something a bit differently, but none the less it can get done.
im going to stick with reason for as long as possible. until i truly feel limited. right now reason wants to switch users because im limiting it haha.

Dont know about artists whom "strictly" use it but artists like Justice, Pendulum, Datsik, Funtcase etc have used it. I personally love reason the synths are just as good as vst's except its an all in one studio.

As far as I'm concerned Reason *is* a VST.

Thor is where it's at!
Yeah have pretty much forgotten about Reason though tbh. I just don't like the interface provided to mix down, and rewiring is too much work when I can pretty much do the same shit elsewhere.

sometimes routing everything together is a pain in reason. but i think once i get my default rack sorted the way i want my work flow will be tawp nawtch

i'm a massive reason fan and have been using it since version 2.0. i did go off on a logic adventure for a while because i listened to people on the internet saying it was better. but i came back and i have been 100% Reason & Record for the last 5 months. i feel like it's much more flexible than logic, sure you can add 1000s of AU plugins but the reason instruments have all the cv and audio conections. you can even use thor to convert audio to cv. ever used your voice to modulate your PWM? reason is a wolf in sheeps clothing.
