Dilemma...

So I tried to order an Ecler Nuo 2.0 from ebay...

1) The listing was for a Nuo 2.0, but the picture was for a Nuo 2. I didn't even know there was a 2, doh! But I won the auction for around $200 which seemed like it was still a good deal for the 2, so I let them ship it.

2) Something like 3 weeks later I receive the mixer. It was a bit odd that it came in a computer box with the sender's name being the name of a pawn shop even though the eBay seller was called Kats Guitars, but this was not too crazy, just worth mentioning.

3) I opened the box and it's a Pioneer DJM-909! It's got some heavy scratches on the top, and a big sticker on the side, but otherwise seems to work fine. New, these mixers go for around $1200, and used on eBay they go for between $800 and $1600...I payed $200.

The right thing to do seems to offer to send it back at a big inconvenience to me. It is also possible (unlikely) that given the time to receive it and the false (I'm assuming it was just a mistake) advertising they decided to upgrade me. Do you guys have opinions on this mixer?

Contact the seller and see if it was really a mistake. If it was, offer yourself shipping it back at their costs. It was their mistake and they should pay for it. Also, even if you do earn a lot of money on keeping it, you won't be happy later when your conscience kicks in. Maybe offer them a small amount of money (50-100$) to keep it, if you can afford and if you would rather use this one than the one you was intending to buy from the beginning.

Hope I'm helping :-)

Keep it, but next time you see a homeless man buy him a sandwich and some fruit.

Pay it forward, basically.

I didn't want to start some sort of bad karma cycle with my gear. Something just didn't feel right. I messaged the seller today to see what they wanted to do. I know it might seem like a no brainer to just keep it, but I just know that every time a piece of gear cut out in the middle of a set I would feel that guilt in the pit of my stomach "should have been honest". Hell, they might not even give a fuck, they're obviously not the most organized business on the planet. We'll see how it turns out. If I don't send it back, I may give it a once over, clean the faders, and give it up for the gear I want. It's nice and all, but I'm not sure if I'd use those effects. Imma go play with it for now :-)

I told them what happened, and asked if they wanted it back. They apologized for the "mix" up and said that if I was happy, they were happy. The message was actually really nice, and the person informed me that they had been on vacation last week, and the shipping guys messed up a whole bunch of stuff (who's fault is really though?). Anywho, now I just gotta decide whether to use it or sell it, guess I'll just try it for a while. Honesty wins.

PS I WISH it was a 900...
