Well, i havent been a number of years, but if its anything like it used to be its all about the north camping site (90% sure thats the one). Either way its the one on the far side of the festival, the other side of the dance tent to the main stage. And yeah, its all about camping there. You wont get as much room unless you get down on the early (if you really dont care you can camp right at the back of the other camp site and have fecking acres to yourself) but its definitely worth it for two key reasons. 1) You're nice and close to the dance tent, 2) you dont have to walk up the FUCKING hill to get back to your tent. Trust, after 3 nights you'll be cursing that hill every time you think about going to watch something
Big chill is a new festival republic acquisition unfortunately, which is a bit lame, but at the same time Im sure it wont affect the old big chill plan which is to walk around till something sounds bumping. Id recommend bringing something to keep yourselves entertained after hours as well, if you are a particular party animal/chem fiend, you'll find everything finishes a bit early in the evenings (most things used to shut by 2 on the main stages i think?).
Who knows, were talking at least 4/5 years since I last went, it might be barely recognisable as the same festival...but if not, thats what id recommend!
Oh! And if its going to be hot, bring some kind of shade! Had a silly heatwave one year I went, and we ended up standing in a line along the front of someone elses tent cos it had like a foot of overhanging material for some kind of shade. That weekend was just silly...mate of mine had a blow up lilo thing outside, but if no one was on it you had to keep turning it over, cos whatever side was facing the sun would stretch more and the whole thing kept getting turned banana shape by the sun.
Hmm...any other random advice. Got me thinking now! Went to the big chill for years but havent really thought about it in a while. I want to recommend the bangers and mash shop if its still there. But not for the sausages, fuck that. Unless theyve caught on, you should be able to get a fat plate of mash (read 'smash') covered in pesto for like £2.50. Power food...
Oh! And reeeally dont forget to visit the art trail, you wont regret it! Seen some awesome things in that art trail, varying from clothes pegs on face world record attempts, to a massive projection of a girl on a swing covering a chunk of one side of the valley, to a looped hour long film of a wasp dieing by brian eno.

Don't go in the camping at the top of the massive hill

so based on this map (
http://www.bigchill.net/festival/info/lost-property) and what wiggle said, its the purple campsite I wanna go for?
and when you say bring something for entertainment after hours, what dyou mean? how dyou reckon theyd feel about a small soundsystem? thanks for the indepth review wiggle btw
and yeah kruder and dorfmeister would be good but there is enough stuff to see there at the moment anyway.

I have some kind of exciting news.
I've been helping
Tom Middleton book his Sound Of The Cosmos tent.
We'll be announcing names on Tuesday, but I can promise you it's sub-bass vibrations from start to end, with some proper legends and fresh names too
Follow
@CosmosBass now for a few hints....

Also that if you *cough cough*
love dub there'll be a treat in store. But one of the artists is *cough cough cough* a right ripoff...
One thing I can say for sure is that Richie Rundle (
Slugrave) and I will be doing after hours chillout / retro-dub sets in the small hours.

Oh yeah...... and we're
giving away a pair of VIP guest places for the whole weekend
(well, I say giving away - there's a required £30 charity donation on the gate for guests, but that's nothing, right?)
