Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you use the new Rokit 8 models. I was thinking of investing in some nice monitors and wanted your take on it. How's the bass response?

the bass response is like my arsehole after a 20 minute moto at rocky hill...MUDDY

lol jokes, my friend has a pair and the bass response is pretty good from what i can tell. about as good as your gonna get for the money. although i do here they are slightly bass heavy.

i plan in snatching a pair of rp6's soon. i would get the 8's but there a little big for what im looking for.

I'm planning on setting up a little studio, since all I'm producing on is my family's shitty 03 Dell (UMAD? :corndance: ) but I'm also wanting to get a midi keyboard How's the MPK49?

I have rp8gen1s and an mpk49 im totally content with them. Lyons said that they might be top heavy bass wise but this depends on room acoustics and monitor placement more than anything ive just found out that theres a huge sub bass peak ( if you know what I mean ) in the middle of my room. Sounds awful when your stood there. Best off finding a shop where you can test a few different speakers with tunes that you know well.
As for the mpk its amazing. Had a few problems with connectivity but apart from that I cant fault it.

I know that people make their pads more sensitive, but is that really necessary? Are they that stiff?

yeah they're pretty bad unless you feel like hitting them kinda hard. after a while it hurts your fingers...until you do the mod or buy fat pads. then they are plenty sensitive. its a design flaw where the pads have an area of space between the pad and the sensor. filling that gap greatly increases their sensitivity.

the mod is simple and easy though, takes about a half an hour and some electrical tape. or even easier if you buy the fat pads.

Yeah the Rokit 8's are alright, good for the money u spend in the sense of frequency response and aesthetics. Still I have a little bit of trouble with getting a clear sound, I don't know if its because I've gone from quite cheap monitors which had very sensitive mids but RP8's sound a bit unclear/muddy and only sound good when you have wide spread monitoring setup even though they're for near-field monitors.

Anyway, if you get them I suggest you get as bigger stereo-field (within reason) as you possibly can and it'll be all good otherwise I'd opt you go down to ya local dealer and get a professional opinion, oh and i'm talking bout Equipment dealer not drug dealer 8)

I have a pair of these for my home set-up and I have to say I love them :U: they take a bit of getting used to, I A-B'd alot of my old mixdowns to see what was going on and they're alot "harsher" in the top end and also can be very bassy if you don't have your room set up correctly. However I don't find them as muddy as gkmusic suggested.
