Hey, i was just wondering what your guys favorite plug ins for working with basses are??
I couldnt live without camelcrusher, fazortan, decimort, and devestator... id like to try out some more though to mix it up

My personal go to, Mokafix Cream Tube plus like, any decimator.

You like your d16 stuff? They're top notch. They have a group buy going on their silverline, which it seems you have 3 of already, hehe. Right now, it is buy one, get one free, if the number goes up, you get two free, three free...

Had it installed on one of my machines, and never gave it a fair shake, lost track of it. But I'm actually using it quite heavily right now. Just saw they have a free flanger over there to.

In terms of unique sounds, I'm a big fan of having a lot of different devices to mess up the sound. When you start putting them together, there are literally millions of combinations of difference settings and sounds.

It is good to know your gear, suggesting working with a limited tool set, but having a few different tools that each do the same thing but with a different flavor can really help you find inspiration which often leads to new sounds altogether.

Im a reason boy. I always used to be a malstrom user, but recently ive realised that the simplicity of the subtractor is where its at. Soso intuitive its unreal. Also, the scream 4 is immense.

i find subtractor to thin for bass. i'm more into real bass and not midrange wobble. i like the "DUB" in dubstep, so thor is my go to.

outside of Reason i use subboombass. don't really use effects on bass, maybe some multiband stuff but then i'm not effecting the bass part of the sound.

I'm an ableton guy, and recently deleted all my VST's because I had WAYY too many free ones in my folder. Started putting stuff in there from scratch, right now I can't live without sugar bytes WOW. The ableton plug-ins are nice since many of them (chorus, overdrive, reverb) can band-pass the effect so it only applies to the sweet-spot of the signal. saves me from having to split the signal up into separate chains. I almost always find myself adding an ableton overdrive to brighten up the top-end of my bass, also there's an ableton rack called Imaging Master that's very cool for spreading out your midrange bass. I even started using Operator (previously only used massive) and it's actually really easy to create crazy harmonics using FM. it actually has built-in waveshaper too, which I had no idea until yesterday (it's kind of hidden in the filter section). The ableton bitcrusher is a bit lackluster, probably going to find a better one soon.

my favorite plugins for making bass:
any sampler with an 808 kick
Reason

for mixing bass:
Waves rBass (for bass guitar)
Waves VComp (synth bass)
Waves LinEQ lowband (steep low cut for sub layer)

malstrom(my favorite), massive, camelphat, skream4, rv7000(not for basses but is amazing reverb), and trying to learn how to use fm8 and albino once i am able to get a legit copy of both of those

If there's one thing Reason really got right, its the scream4. rv is pretty boss too.

We should start a petition for a VST release of Malstrom, RV7000 and Scream 4

Have you used any of their other plugs?

How would you characterize this filter, what sets it apart? I've been on a LOOONG quest for a really vibrant vst filter.

finally got to test out NI razor, wow that thing make some cool sounds... and the sound that comes out of it really doesn't need any extra processing since it can be so complex. not just for dubstep, but it sure seems like they had wobbles in mind when they made it. just wish it had custom LFO shapes...

You can get some seriously fat sounds from Subtractors my friend. Tweak away with sines and squares and I'm tellin you.

Check the main wob in this, not brosteppy at all, but its thick i spose. Made it in a subtractor
