I've been listening to a lot of drum and bass recently and want to try and replicate a bassline found in music from neosignal or renegade. I'm not that technically proficient, preferring to experiment to try and make the sound. Also I have no idea what most of the terminology means so if you could tell me in the simplest way lol. I use FL. No plug ins.

Basic Reece
3xOsc
1st Osc = Sawtooth
2nd Osc = Sawtooth
Detune with the SD knobs. Try tuning the SD knob on the 1st Osc to 11 o clock, and the one on 2nd osc to 1 o clock. Fiddle. Fine tune to taste.
Neurofunk
3xOsc
1st Osc = Sawtooth
2nd Osc = Square
3rd Osc = that one to the right of sawtooth I can never remember the name for
Route out through a mixer channel, apply Fast Dist, Parametric EQ to boost the low end freq, and generally EQ to taste.
The above techiques will give the basic, entry level sounds you have mentioned. Remember to lower the octave when you're doing this to get some growl.
I'm well busy with coursework atm but I'll try and post up the a tutorial of the way that I go about it in a week or two.
Also if you want that phace style midsy bass, try messing about with a filterbank/vocoder plug in.

I learned from this video. They have some decent tutorials, pretty sad they went off the rails, well at least one of them. Seemed like nice chaps till the DOA crisis kicked off.

Their mixer is kind of busy though, just need some lowpassing really.
One thing I do to get it warm, is have it played in octaved chords, just two is enough, find the best level for them, you'll know what's best for the track at hand
