I tried posting this in the monitor thread but it was overlooked and I need to make a fairly quick decision..

After doing my research these are the 2 I've narrowed it down to for my price range.

The Focal's sound like they might have a slightly more detailed/quality sound, but the Adams have got 2 inches on them, 13hz lower bass response and also sound really nice.

I know its only 13hz (42 as opposed to 55 on the Focals) but seeing as Im making primarily bass music I kinda want that extra 13.

Another upside to the Adams is that there are no Focals in my city, so Ive only been able to actually hear the Adams for myself, and I was fairly pleased.

Any thoughts much appreciated

Can also get the focals slightly cheaper which would mean i could afford some flat studio headphones as well...

its personal preference, but i'd go with the adams for sure. I have a pair and settled on them after trying out tons of gear. Some people like the dyns as well, I think youll be happy with the a7s

I'd much prefer the Adam's for sureeee but then again I have heard both so can have an opinion,

They're absolutely blinding monitors.

hmm, gearslutz mostly seem to think Focals.... but from what I gather from that site is there is a lot of band music mixing people on it... Adams sound like they might go a bit better for dubstep etc

I wouldnt bother going with anything with a 5 inch woofer for dubstep mate. You will be severly dissappointed with the sound you get from them.

The Adams are great monitors for the size and will serve you well

why not focal 65? whats yer room size?

the adam seems better, the ribbon tweeter must be better than focal i think

I was in your situation before, I went with the focals and I couldn't be happier (well, if someone gave me a studio worth 500k$ I could). The sound is so clear, great low end response

the focals are crystal clear on the high end tho from what i found you need to have a sub with them. a7x are awesome

Its consecutive opinions like this that make making this decision suck balls But leaning towards teh Adams at this stage

I just bought some A7x's last weekend, they've helped IMMENSELY.
I was using some Mackie MR5's before for a long time, with ALOT of reference listening to clear up the problems
they gave me, which was mostly hit or miss through the midrange and... well the whole range really!

My choice was also the A7X or the Focals, but I got a pretty decent deal on A7X with extended warranty.
One thing I did do was go get a KRK 10 sub .. after a few days of listening and tweaking a track without it
I still couldn't get the right sound on the kick & low mid sounds. I'm still working on balancing the volume out
on it but I couldn't do without it.
I went with KRK sub because I could buy it locally at Future Shop, and even better I got an open box discount....
because I already bought the exact sub a few months ago and returned it because I didn't help my crappy mackie
mixes at all.

My guess is if you're coming from some budget speakers like I did, either the Adams or Focals will help you big time!

I haven't got anything at the moment, I still think getting a decent pair of monitors should be a massive improvement on my current set up (mixing through hi fi speakers)
