I've been producing with headphones and I have got some money save to buy some monitors and I have some questions.
1.What's the difference between powered and unpowered monitors?
Edit: I know the difference obviously but what should I get since I am using an external soundcard.
2.What is a good deal on some monitors around 200$ (Getting them at Guitar Center)

powered have an inbuilt amp, non powered need an external amp.
no advantage in either at this price range.
No good monitors either at this price.
get some quality headphones and save up.

2. you could get some m audio monitors or beringer. (not high quality)
