While I disagree with him almost wholeheartedly on plenty of things, he comes across very genuine.

Me too. Hes a god tho, i campaigned for him a little bit in 08. It was so frustrating seeing how he was shut out of the mainstream media. I think everyone can find things they disagree with Ron Paul on (myself included, though I'm pretty damn libertarian myself and probably a little less moderate than him), but what I appreciate about him the most isn't his views as much as that he's actually tackling the economic and social issues at their core. He doesn't talk about fixing things within a broken system, but he actually wants to fix the system. In contrary to almost every other mainstream politician in the US.
I wish a lot of people would set aside their differences with him and just look at what they agree on with him. With Ron Paul, the country stands the best chance of getting rid of the Federal Reserve. Which is what a lot of people on the far left agree with as well. Insead of worrying about the fact that he's "libertarian" and all that crap, I think people should be more glad that there's actually an anti-corporatist candidate out there. That's more than you can say about Obama, who's got the most corporate funding out of any presidential candidate during the last elections.

His district in Texas is one of the hottest messes in the state. I really can't comprehend why anyone would support him in the slightest.
It's like giving a teenager who keeps crashing their car the keys to an 18-wheeler to drive instead and expecting them not to crash it.

didn't use to be a big fan of his, but he's leveled out in the past years. i like him. though i know a lot of liberal people probably won't vote for him because he runs on a republican ticket, and they don't keep up with his actual views. they'd vote for a fuckin three-legged dog if it ran democrat, dun kno

It's a very bi-polar district. There are tourist traps surrounded by some of the worst living conditions in the state
Ron Paul makes sure to take care of the tourist areas and the ares where the old retired snow birds live and then ignores the areas where minorities live. About 10% of his district is pristine and the rest is insanely poor.
Basically he throws out a couple of disguised scare tactics and a few ideas the establishment scoffs at to make his supporters feel revolutionary to distract from the fact that he's your typical white southern politician who blatantly doesn't care about minorities and won't pay attention to anyone that doesn't vote for him.
Ron Paul was incapable of getting any of his bullshit passed in a decade + in the house. He can't pass shit by himself.
also there's these gems where Ron Paul makes blatantly racist comments and then pulls the infamous "it wasn't me" line.

Latest news from a Black perspective with stories and opinions you won't read anywhere else (but should).
I remember when those came out and it was filled with speculation. Every president/politician has had some pretty nasty friends in their time, so I wouldn't expect him to be different in that respect, though I don't remember anything going past speculation.
I like about half of what he says, his views on military, a lot of the economic things, drug law reform... but also disagree with a lot such as the religious and gay marriage debate, though he has said it shouldn't be up to the government to decide at all which I agree with. He has delivered thousands of babies as a doctor, so I understand him being against abortion (specifically government funded abortion), but he has also said he won't bring personal beliefs into it. That would probably be a first though.
