saw this over at the imageline forum. I think its a great idea because I've been having the same thoughts as this guy for a while. Anyway, watch the video linked here:
http://vimeo.com/23651804
Is there any similar plugin already existing? Do you think that IL should develop this plugin?

Didn't you guys watch the video???
It for stopping instruments from clashing in the mix, it's taking two old methods of this, and combining them into something that comes at a smaller cost to the mix (not your pocket). The old ways of sidechaining, and subtractive EQ, both take more than is needed away from the rogue sound that is clashing with one of the main parts of your mix, but this plugin only takes away what is needed, when it is needed. It studies the sound that is being drowned out in the mix, and then cuts just the frequences it takes up, and only when the sound is playing. In short it's a sidechain EQ.

I think I might have seen something very similar come out a few years ago, but it had like a £100+ price tag. I can't remember what it was called
You can do something a bit like this in FL atm, but it's no way as accurate as this would be, as it don't studie the incoming audio like this. You can set a EQ on say a pad that is getting in the way of your lead synth so it cutting away frequences the lead synth wants, and then use the peak controller so that the EQ only takes effect when the lead synth plays. It's not great, but it's a work around till this comes out.

Hell yeah mutha fukka!!!
I just hope it comes with FL, or they do a cheap introduction price on it.

lol if thats what youre thinking then its a completely different concept
@3za yeah man I knew that lol and yeah IL should DEFINITELY make the plugin and have it as a default FL plugin without extra cost

Not so different, attenuating frequency bands based on input?

but thats different from the links you posted. those eq plugs (correct me if I'm wrong) are called 'dynamic' because they don't simply boost and lower levels on the sounds, but rather take the average point in the eq curve and bring that to the center. so you can boost or lower frequencies without the sound getting louder or quieter

haha, news to me, though don't totally understand what ur saying dyn eq does. Was hoping it did what I thought it did, ie reduce freq bands based upon input.

basically if you try to remove some frequencies, it will boost the others to not lose volume. and the other way around too. If you boost some frequencies, the others will go down so that it doesn't get louder...ill make an image or two and edit this post to get my point across

on the left side you see the programmed curves and on the right side, you see the curves applied to the sound
somebody correct me if this is wrong

ah, I got that. sounds like a good idea. Kind of a more complex tilt eq?

haha, maybe I'm thinking of Sonalksis's DQ1 and CQ1.
For the time being, I'm sticking with quality arrangement, composition, eq and sound design. hehe.

so it's a multiband sidechain compressor that works both ways (the multibandedness)...
i dont think this is a great idea, it's gonna make people pack even more stuff into their mixes and give them new ways to milk out the last single dB, i thought we all agreed that the loudness war is shit?

@hasezwei not what its intended for...or what I would use it for either. Its main purpose is to mix vocals into instrumentals without ruining or compromising the instrumental. the sine lead in the video was used to show the concept
and the guy who made it said that it would have hundreds/thousands of bands, so it wouldn't be your average multiband sidechain compressor
