Hi this is my first post and I have been producing with fl studio 10 on a mac book pro running parallels desktop. When I go to record in fl my computer makes a weird screeching sound and I can't figure out why. I'm pretty sure it's from the microphone. I also run reason5 on my mac and it seems to record flawlessly. If someone could please help me out that be really fucking cool! Thanks!

By record, do you mean record automation or record the signal from your computers input jack?

Make sure your choosing the right option from the box of recording options... If you are trying to record automation, you should hit the option that says "Automation and Score" ... if you are trying to record the audio input of your PC, you should hit one of the two options relating to that (Audio into edison/audio into playlist)...

When recording audio, make sure you select the right input option from the black dropdown box at the top of each mixer track above where you select effects... Alot of laptop's have built in microphones, which if you accidentally select, will feedback with your speakers.

Next time you get the screeching sound, mute your speakers so it doesnt do any damage, then look at the mixer on FL... is one of the mixer tracks going crazy and blasting a signal into the red? if it is, select it, look at the black dropdown box at the top, and set it to either 'none' or a different input, should fix it.

Also, when recording audio, its advisable to use a free mixer track and an instance of edison vs. the master mixer track, because if you use the master track edison will also be recording the playback of your tune, whereas using a mixer track you can play the tune and record your audio with it as reference.

yeah thanks for the help I'm talking about recording automation, but i'm pretty sure there's something wrong with my recording or something because even when I pick automation and score it still trips out. I just gotta turn off the microphone i think.

Like I said, make the problem happen, mute your speakers, and check to make sure your mixer isnt reading a mic input for some reason.
