IPSWICH - Is there any Dubstep?

In 3 weeks i will sadly be leaving Bristol and heading to Ipswich. Now Ipswich isn't famed for a lot other than tractors and inbreeding. What i would love to know is are there any dubstep nights in the area? Colchester, Norwich, Ipswich itself? Anybody have any ideas???

cambridge has subculture every month (i think?). not sure how many miles from ipswich to be honest but i always thought of them being fairly near. was akti2 and ramadanman last month and i think they;'re tyring to book more guests. it's good anyway though!

Well, it looks like i will be trekking to events in the near future..
As for Cambridge and Ipswich being near... They are about 1h 10m in a car apart. Probably closer to London.
edit: That is a lie. London is far further.

mate youre going to the wrong city, ive been there many a time, my cousin used to live there, there is nowt going on, no decent night clubs or anything, god record shops and a nice skatepark and some all right graff, but if u r looking for dubstep i doubt ull find a single trace
start your own scene there....

Giving this a bump, as it has now been 10 months since i moved here and i have made it to a sum total of 0 dubstep nights in Ipswich and just 3 on my travels back to Bristol
Somebody i spoke to today mentioned something at the Silverstar on Fridays, but they were very vague on the details. Anybody have any ideas where i can find dubstep? Some people here that i have spoken to actually know what it is, finally! So i'm hoping there is a chance of catching some somewhere....

mate mala was in norwich last night!
off the top of my head the next 'big name' around is benga at beats in abundance
lots of nights with more local heads playing going on as well (harmitage/tremor/down low)
sick dub/reggae scene too (freeking/rebel lion/roots renegade)
a fair bit going on here considering!
o yeh, i think chrome (kontakt) played in ips last night too...

Ramp Recordings is based just outside Ipswich. Used to be a great scene round here in the early 90's, not much interesting going on any more though I'm afraid. Kirk DeGeorgio does live here, and Peel Acres is also close by!
