and believe that people (kids, lets be honest) listen to it just because it's "trendy" and what "the cool kids are doing". Well. Youre right.

And that is what pisses me the fuck off... as a drummer of 12 years and a man obsessed with synths and synthesis along with of course processing of audio in general - i will admit i listen to artists like downlink, the others (who i suppose shouldnt be on this list but whatever), noisia, excision, datsik, etc. (SKRILLEX? LOLOL) And i am truly awe inspired by the raw talent that is involved in creating those "mid-ranged robot farts".

Don't you agree? Don't you all understand how much time and tedious tweaking of knobs and faders it takes to produce those robot farts? Hate the music all you wan't... but what you should be hating is the scene. I know i do. And that's why i don't go to shows anymore unless it's just one or maybe two artists playing at a small intimate venue that is 18 or god at least 21+...

I'm an aspiring audio engineer, producer, and acoustician and i'll be the first to admit that i have a long list of dubstep artists that i love that you hate. My question is why do you hate them if its not just because of the kids that listen to the music. Because if that's your only reason for hating truly good music then youre no better than them.

PS. dont get me wrong PLEASE - i find artists like mala & kryptic minds & youngsta etc. etc. etc. to be equally genius... more in fact in many ways. But i can not say that artists like that have the technical talent that the above artists have - rather the musical talent that the above artists (for the most part) wish they could achieve. I think the others are a perfect example of a mesh of the two.

Well, if I've learned one thing from production is that sometimes... it isn't as much about acquiring a 'skill' as much as 'a feel' and as much as those two go hand in hand... it doesn't mean that wht they're doing is exactly 'impressive'. Just something they set their mind to and worked on and gotten a feel for.

I'm not a fan of what a lot of people call 'brostep', but I like a lot of harder edged dubstep. I also think most music people call 'future garage' is mad lame so it's not the usual 'hate'. I also don't care for how much skill there is or isn't involved in the music I love either. Some of my favorite shit is like mid '90s lofi speedcore.

I'm just saying that... just because it seems impressive to you that they put so much effort into producing those basslines, it doesn't mean that it is. It's likely just the result of them just taking their technique one step further each time as they evolve and building up on what other musicians do, working it into their workflow and have it become second hand. Messing with filters, then effects, then resampling, then formant filters.. etc and so on. You can see a clear evolution from stuff like 'Haunted' to 'Cockney Thug' to whatever it is that Excision is doing to Skrillex. Once everyone figured out how to make a wobble, it didn't take long for everyone to figure out how to make midrange out of that and then how to make bitcrushed yoys out of that.

And other than that, while a lot of these artists may be technically 'good' at processing bass, how good are they as all around producers? Drum processing? Rhythms? Pads and leads? Sample processing? Mixdowns?

But most of all.... should it matter? The '70s and early '80s were a hotbed for boring jazz-rock bands. They got as much hate from the jazz heads as brostep is getting in the dubstep scene. No one denies their skill, just that the music is lame. I suppose that's what matters most of all.

to be perfectly honest, i don't even hate bros. I like it when a rave gets hyphy. Sometimes it ought to be that way. I just hate lousy beats and relentless screeching noises.
I wish kids would get this excited over dubstep. Wouldn't make me wanna stop listening, just because it got popular.

The 'music' is shit. Simple as.

Each track has the same idea going on in it and sounds like it could have been made by any of the so called 'elite' brostep artists.

I've nothing against harder music, but this stuff gets incredibly boring after a while. After te initial "oh wow, how filthy is that!" (no homo) there's nothing else to keep you interested. Vex'd managed to create some brutal, crushing music on their first album, but there was some serious moody and haunting atmospheres there to keep you wanting more.

I think it takes a lot more skill and talent to create a powerful, atmospheric piece of music that truly connects with people than trying to find the filthiest sounds and put them together in 4 second bursts with a boring drum beat underneath.

talented or not, im not disputing it, simple fact is the musics FKIN KIDS POP MUSIC. NOT DUBSTEP. DO 1

Just because time, effort and talent go into making something does not mean I have to enjoy it. I can respect people who have the talent to create the music. But we don't need to enjoy it.

+1. Half of these people wouldnt even know what dub or garage is and that annoys me. Most of those producers he listed are trying to gain a tiesto like following to make themselves into superstars., i wish people would stop sticking up for them. Money seems to be the main reason that they produce. Take skrillex for example who made shitty emo music, saw something he could cash in on and there you have it. His tracks are terrible, truly pathetic and it baffles me how people love him so much.

but as artists theyre fucking terrible, rehashing the same idea a million times
theyre like "artists" you see on deviantart creating photo realistic pictures of anime characters or or whatever. total waste of talent.

I hate brostep simply because it's being classed as dubstep. It is no way near the sound that I enjoy...only similarity being it's at the same speed. And to top it all off the ignorance of people who think they listen to dubstep...and really when you show them a track by say loefah they say it's boring.
