One of my worst nightmares realized..glad I had those experiences now..don't see myself going back to Amsterdam due to this. And yeah, I only went to blaze out. How disappointing.

Amsterdam is fucked, practically no locals go to any of the coffeeshops any where near the centre.

If anything it's a good thing for the Dutch people who have to put up with the hoards of drug and sex tourists. I've been one of those tourists a few times myself and always cringed and what it must be like to live amongst people who go to Amsterdam to get fucked with out any respect to the place, people or themselves.

:t:

Besides which, fuck that over night ferry. I'd rather stay in my own hazy bubble at home, in my own bed and save the money. :D

Changes nothing for me - I'll still be popping over for a weekend this year and see a couple of mates, but it's not a drugs mecca or anything for me, because quite frankly; am not a shallow fuck.

Just remembered I've got a bro who lives there anyway, worst case he can buy my herb and bun elsewhere I guess.

It bears the brunt for the rest of Europe's deeply unprogressive views about drugs and as a result this was bound to happen, unless the surrounding countries had followed suit and thereby taken the pressure off the Netherlands, itself a small nation.

Instead of a shallow fuck, you're an egotistical fuck. Good job.

yeah i think they should have just shut them down entirely if they wanted them to stop... you know the 1,500 "members" of the coffee shops are gonna find the tourists and charge them double to walk in and buy for them...

basically set up their own subculture of crime

Fuck it, lets just go to Portugal instead then! Their decriminilisation scheme has actually worked by reducing both drug use and negative effects of drugs on society... no wonder the UK papers never mention it :?

not really the same in portugal as they did this to end a really nasty era of heroin consumption.

here in lisbon now you can have ten doses worth of product on you , although this is obviously a debatable subject which comes down to the judge´s interpretation.

the police are truly inept/lazy/nonchalant so interpret that as you will.

Exactly. I mean you have to look at this from their point of view, us Brits are quite notorious for being cuntish toursits. If we so much as see a French man near a plastic patio chair; well we just have to get drunk and deck the fucking surrender monkey with it. :?

Seriously though - imagine living in a little city that is swamped by tens of thousands of idiots. Not everyone who goes there is an idiot, granted, but if you've been there... man, we don't even bother to try and speak a bit of Dutch, ffs. How arrogant is that?

I feel sorry for people who need humour spelt out for them. I Guess they're reduced to watching shit American sitcoms with tinned laughter.

IT WAS A JOKE BORROWED, Jesus. Switch your brain on.

Was hoping that Cali would benefit from weed tourism. Suppose the firkys of the world are the downside though...

Nowt wrong with people going on holiday to smoke a bit bud, have a drink and a good time etc. It's when they start to have a negative effect on the people who live there and are a drain on the authorities it becomes a problem. You see the casualties in the Dam, people getting tanked up on strong European beer and then having a smoke, puking all over the street or just wondering in front of trams and bicycles.

Dunno what the fuss is about Dam myself, you can get weed just as nice here (albeit illicitly) and you don't have to go across the North Sea on a shitty ferry to get it :D
