How do you reply?

I always consider this an awkward question,

Does anyone actually say that they are into dubstep?
What do you call it?

Are you like me where you reply with something like "uhh weighty music, a bit of garage 2step etc" feeling somewhat embarrassed by the name dubstep nowadays?

Well... Yeah, i do say dubstep. But then i go on to say that i like all good-sounding and well-made music, which is really what i do.

"Anything that's decent"

i say underground dubstep but they don't want to understand that

a bit of everything

"Anything that sounds good, but mostly UK Bass music"

First i think about saying dubstep, then i remember that every single time i say this the response is : "Wicked, have you seen the latest funtcase video or damn skrillex is cool" and then i just say
bass music , techno, house , hiphop, and everything else that has a cool sound to it. in the end i'm not really lying cause i'm not really into straight up dubstep anymore

I completely agree about saying that you are into dubstep is almost embarassing now! we are pariahs! some guy immeidately scoffed at me when i mentioned it.

so now I just say "anything to shake to" which is pretty much true.

When people asked me this question 5 years ago I just simply replied with "Dubstep", then they would reply with "what? What the fuck is that?" and I would play them some of the sickest tune ever made and they would go mental.

Nowadays, when people ask me this question, I reply with "Reggae", since that's the genre I listen to the most besides Dubstep. Because now, if I would reply with "Dubstep", I would instantly get associated with those hipsters that only listen to Skrillex and Doctor P.

Fucking sad, I know.

Interesting to see that the majority on here agrees that those brostep producers have really brought the word "Dubstep" to shame...

I just reply "Dub" ...

I say I am into Dubstep and not worry about what they think of me after that. People can't start to disassociate from this scene just because it's got some dodgy stigmas, surely that just compounds the issue?
