Anyone know where i could get the old techno/hardcore synth stab samples from?

Thats the kind of thing i want to go for. Seeing as i dont have any vst's synthesizing them will be out of the question.

Thanks

Haha it did cross my mind but i didnt think the bit depth and sample rate would be good enough to be used in a production. You think it would be ok?

Computer Music did 'old skool rave' samples a while back, I'm sure they're on the internets somewhere.

Yeah youtube audio quality is shit at best, try find a better version somewhere else, but might be hard with that track...

If your not going for some super polished production, and are not scared of a bit of lofi go for it!!!

I would personally never worry about something like that, if you play that youtube track out of some decent monitors and it sounds decent enough, then there's no reason why you can't sample it.

Back in the day when hardware sampling was the only option most samplers usually ran in 8 or 12 bit, which is real crunchy and lofi, and it never stopped anyone back then going 'i think the quality isn't high enough. People would always sample things at 45rpm and then pitch them down to save on sampling time, so that would also really dirty the samples up as well. Again, if it was good enough back then, why not now? Go for it!

Something else that's also worth adding, is that a big part of 'that sound' comes from the fact that they would just sample one chord from the synth or keyboard or whatever they were using, and play it up and down via their sampler. I bet you could find lots of those type of sounds in things like Logic's ES2 or ES1. Then just get a similar sounding chord, play it in, bounce it, and sample it to help get that sort of vibe...
