Sub bass should be between 30hz and 70hz.
You want to eq anything out below 70hz on the bass, you might want to make small notches in the bass at the frequencies your kick and snare peak at to make space for them although you don't have to.
I'd cut anything below 70hz to 80hz on drums and everything else other than the sub.

yup this is a pretty good general rule of thumb along with the chart i posted.

but remember, each song is different and this is by no means a MUST. for instance some people want their kick drum to be the lowest and hardest hitting thing so they eq accordingly. just remember theres no rules. so use them as guidelines but just do what sounds good to you...

Just a general tip , not rule of thumb but try and make sure you roll off anything at 20Hz and below on your EQ;ing.
It just muddles up the final mix and isn't very usefull at this point. :)

yeah or just high pass filter everything below 20-30hz. is reasons m class equalizer it has a 30hz cut off which is pretty helpful. 20hz is just what humans can hear down to. its very low. 30hz-50hz is that slamming bass youll hear in a club.

I tend to use the Multiband Dynamics plugin built in Live to see certain things but what else do I need?
I'm still pretty new and never understood this
The Spectrum effect will show you the frequency ;-)

dont eq parts out of the drums, sidechain the bass with your kick. and I would drop the midrange off at about 80 Hz highpass

dont cut any frequencies out of the sub. since it is a sine wave, its only one frequency so that will do not good.

uhhh side chaining the bass with a kick is more of an effect in dubstep and really shouldn't be done all the time like in house. you want to try and get your drums to cut through your bass with proper eqing usually. unless you want that pumping affect side chaining gives...

i agree with jr in the statement not to cut your sub bass, other than rolling it off at about 80hz tops, but the sub bass is certainly more than one frequency unless you only use one note?

anyways, when eqing you may want to cut a small chunk out of the bass at 80hz or so and boost 80hz on your kick. remember cut thin, boost wide. and for your snare, you may want to cut 2k hz out of your bass and boost 200hz on your snare.

unless you make some specially engineered, custom sub bass, its just a plain sine wave (one frequency)

i like sidechaining method...but I have a different way to sidechain sometimes which is more effective for this situation

its not 1 frequency if u have a few diff osc's layered. or if u change notes.

and yeah sometimes side chaining is good just subtly. but i prefer not to usually unless i really want to emphasize the kick on certain parts. i use it more as an effect. most of the time i want my bass to flow on its own if that makes sense lol

Not really relevant but that frequency chart gizmo is my Fl Studio wallpaper :6:

That frequency chart is kinda subjective... good as a general guide but it's really upto you. For example: personally, in DnB and dubstep my snares always need a 200hz boost to get that POW... on their chart the thing doesn't come anywhere near 200hz
