I find it rude when people follow me and after I follow them back they stop following me. Im not the best producer im still learning so obviously they are not following me because my tunes are good... because theyre not... so its obvious they just want you to follow them back, WHICH IS FINE accept after you follow them back they stop following you...
I thought the point in following someone was to have a community of people who you leave feedback for you and listen to your music and they do the same for you. Does the number of followers really count? Whats the point in just getting random people to follow you....
Idk I just find it rude. And I wasnt sure what forum to put this in so I put it here feel free to move it or delete it.

That's why I usually follow people I have a general interest in...Don't just follow because they are following you!
And don't do it for the followers, do it for the music:)

creativity thrives with an audience, even if your work is not received well. creative action is a communal function.
with the prevalence of the internet we have, potentially, the whole world as an audience. which is good. except we become an audience to the whole world and this is intimidating.

I used to do mass followings. Now I follow who I like the sound of. Their stuff gets through to me somehow but it's diluted amongst lots of minimal techno shit n shit.

I TOOOOOOTALLY agree!
Evey time I get one or more followers, I lose one or more. I sit there and say "what the fuck is this shit!?" I mean am I THAT bad of a musician? I know that I'm not as good as I could AND should be, but I mean seriously? Stop following me? It's just sooooo fuckin disrespectful. If you dont like my music, then just dont follow me. Then I will know who ACTUALLY likes my music and who doesn't.
I think I've made my point here.

followers on soundcloud are just like subscribers on youtube I guess. i guess it shows how many people have checked out some of your tracks and liked it so there is a point to it, and those random people are just random people who have stumbled upon your music and liked it. no one just clicks "follow" on your profile for no apparent reason. just look at some artists that have like 1000 and only follow like 5 people its because most likely that 1k is people who like there music, i don't think those guys are doing a "sub4sub, follow4follow" type thing if that person doesn't follow them back

Two points;
1) Making good music is not about how many Soundcloud followers you have
2) If you don't like it, don't follow them. I don't follow ANYONE on Soundcloud, yet still have people who follow me. Presumably because they like what I put on my SC page (apart from my mate Shaun, who I travelled round Cuba with and is coming over tonight for beer & smoke)

I listen to peoples tracks on soundcloud more than I listen to releases and always comment when I find something I like. Sometimes though Ill check my own and ill have comments back from those people and I feel like emailing them to say that I wasnt fishing for comments I just really like that track. Hard to know peoples motives with places like that.
