Hey, sorry if this is the wrong section or something. I just joined like 5 seconds ago. I've been lurking this site for awhile, but never had a reason to register until now. After about 2 years of production in R&B/Hip-Hop, I decided I wanted to get into the electronic side of music and start creating my own style of Dub/Dance/Techno. My main question here is if I am getting the right stuff I need.

Here is what I have. (or currently working on getting)

M-Audio Fast Track Pro

Pro Tools M-Powered 7
Fruity Loops 9
Ableton Suite (getting)
Adobe Audition 3
& Various Vst's (Massive, Albino, V-Station, reFX, ect.) Also saving up for "NI The Mouth"
About 60 Gig of Drum Samples/Loops

M-Audio Keystation Pro 88
Allen & Heath ZED 24 Mixer
Nady GEQ 131 Single 31-Band EQ
Akai MPD18 (getting)
Novation Launchpad (getting)
M-Audio Torq Xponent (getting)

M-Audio AV 40 Monitors
Shure SRH840 Studio Headphones

I don't have much but I'm only 17. I figured I could come here for guides. My main influences would have to be Rusko obviously. Uhm, there's also Reso, Caspa, The Widdler, Nero, and I don't really know lol. I don't know much on Dubstep history but I am a HUGE fan of Rusko.

But are there any suggestions on what I should aim towards getting? I'm saving up for my own place so I could expand on what I have. I don't know much on the hardware side. My mind was always into computer programming. I got into music when I was about 14-15 making stupid shit with Mixcraft then I moved up to FL studio and still use it til this day. I also got into Pro-Tools once I got my sound card then started looking up hardware and got a good MIDI keyboard, a mixer, and just recently got an EQ. I also read that Ableton Live is great so I'm saving for that now.

I'm pretty average at Piano (still taking classes), but wanted to get into Guitar, Bass, Violin, and Scratching sometime in the near future. I've read about 4 books on music mixing and saving up for 100 hours training in Audio Engineering at a near by studio. (near DC)

I'm just mainly looking for guidance on here in product and production.

dont have much? u have more than necessary... in theory all u need is a daw...
thats pretty much all i have atm, with the exception of my pindick akai mpk mini.

also i prefer fl over ableton but thats just me. dont just buy it because of what u have heard or read... give a demo a try or something.

My goal in life is to become a producer more than an artist. But I would love to do some live shows in a few years on the east coast. I've always wanted to produce for Octone and make an album with Flyleaf or Hollywood Undead. Don't hate. I listen to anything except mainsteam rap and classic country.

I've messed with the demo for about 2 weeks and it looks very complex but well worth the learning.

That's waaaaaaaay more than you actually need to get started. All I have is Ableton Live 8 (and not the suite, mind you), Massive, and KRK Rokits.

I have enough to make good tunes. (Not that I actually make good tunes, but I could, in theory with some more experience.)

Well I'm not technically getting started, just starting in a new genre.

You're getting a little too caught up in gear if you're wanting to make your own style. I'd recommend just using what you feel most comfortable with and putting the metaphorical pen to paper and letting your ideas loose. If you have to ask if you need it, rather than deciding you need it for a certain sound, you probably don't need it. Realistically you only need a DAW and an idea. Some good samples too if you're not into making your own.

I don't mean any of that in a condescending manner, mind you. Just an observation.

Still though, you definitely don't need to buy anything else

You've got more than enough to get started making Dubstep.

You're going to love that m-audio stuff! You are on the right track.

M-Audio is what I "grew up" on.

With all that you have and are getting, how could you ask the question you asked?
How could you not know that it is sufficient?
It`s all music in the end.

I know I was kind of beating around the bush but what I am trying to get too is what are some good hardware to have at hand if I ever wanted to mess around.
