Wub, excuse my ignorance, but how exactly does this work, just detailed info of DSF members and we look to see who meets our "needs" to collab?

Pretty much, yes. If you're looking to collaborate, you check the directory, see who uses what DAW and whether they have a sound you like, and then contact them

Liking it so far, one suggestion though. Peeps who are saying they are up for a collab IRL but don't have their location under their username should really give a vague idea as to where they are located. Otherwise someone who's specifically looking through to find an IRL collab will have to message each person in turn to find out where they're at.

Good point, have amended the opening thread to take this into account.

Why does nobody live near here!?
And I don't know, I got bored of reason way to fast. Not the right kind of workflow for me.

QUESTION: what is the best way to collab? me and bevoh are working on a track and he doesnt have the same vst's as me and vice versa, so if figure id just sent the stems, and AFTER compression the file was about 110 mb! and it took me about 20 minutes to upload the first 10mb zip file to send back to him, so any insight on how to collab better? or is this one of the downsides of remote collaboration

use better compression, or get the same VSTs

still faster than sending cds/dvds thru the mail tho i reckon

You can, but it won't make a whole lot of difference.
And yes, this is one of the changes to workflow that you'll encounter collaborating remotely. Good to see someone actually using that thread though

Well, if you're using stems of the entire tune, then it'd be whatever size they are.
TBH - 100Mb isn't a big deal for me but that's down to my connection speed at the office. Have you tried using smaller stems, say only 4/16 bar loops?

Rando, check this out. This will make collaborations a hell of a lot easier for you bud

I started a collab with a guy a while ago, and we used this. Really makes a huge difference, it's great not having to upload things!

Wub, check it out if you havn't heard of it. Might be of use to put it in with the collab thread.
