traktor scrach pro 2 ... latency problems (i think)

hello all...
after being a long time vinyl junkie i finally bit the bullet & went digital. after doing some research i settled on traktor scratch pro 2.
the first 15min of a mix is fairly bang on but shortly after that, for some unknown reason, the relationship between the time coded vinyl & the actual audio seems to be less solid & there's a noticeable lag ... after restarting the software, everything is great but once again its only for 5 (or so) tracks before it all starts going to hell (again) ... obviously you cant restart every 15 min during a set so how do i deal with this ?
in an attempt to combat this , i downloaded the latest sound drivers for mac & updates for TSP2. but doesnt seem to have helped ..
im using,
mac book pro/osx 10.6/2.53 intel core 2 duo
TSP2.2.0.2 with the traktor audio 10
NEED TO GET THIS FIXED AS I HAVE A SHOW ON FRIDAY
