anyone know where i can start one up without having to pay?!
there's dozens of free forum hosting sites like :

word of caution though. they own the database, and they also control the mysql. this means that you have to pay them to release the database to you, once your forum reaches a certain size and bandwidth, and you choose to take it to your own chosen url.
