The man responsible for MindStep Music’s first EP release is 25 year old
Yu Ono AKA Dubtro from Tokyo, Japan. Citing German electronica and abstract hip hop artists among his many musical influences, his sound began to take shape after attending a Mala gig while he was touring Japan.
As his dubstep productions began to progress, his demos were noticed by respected Deep Medi artist Goth Trad and he was invited to DJ at Back To Chill. We are proud to present the debut release from Dubtro.
Opening the EP, ‘Forgot Past Storage’ combines lounge keys and laid back textures which sit on warm sub notes. All the components build into a head nodding meditational roller that creates a deep electronic lullaby for the listener… Lift’in Off is a brooding minimal beast that creeps out from haunting pads and stabbing percussive hits developing into a dark, enchanting sub bass tapestry.
Suspense slowly building from swirling pads through the intro of Horrid Murk is met with a rumbling sub every bit as murky as the title suggests. Additional percussive elements, eerie samples and dark hoover FX give the track a progressive feel as it culminates in dreamy mysterious bliss.
The closing track comes in the form of Hatred, calmly drifting atmospheres in the intro give way to a dark growling bass and haunting stabs… a weighty dancefloor riddim!

In the run up to our first EP release, entitled ‘Forgot Past Storage EP’ from Dubtro – straight out of Japan, we are giving you a FREE DOWNLOAD track to celebrate.
Our second solo EP comes from 18 year old Bandicoot, a gifted young producer originally of Welsh & Austrian descent, but living in Berkshire, UK. Studying musical theory and playing instruments from a young age, he has turned to digital means to create soundscapes and use the spacious tempo of dubstep to construct dark, grimey and affecting tracks. MindStep Music proudly presents… Left Behind EP.
The first track In A Moment has a smooth summer’s evening vibe to it, soft keys bathed in reverb and dreamy pads produce a soothing chill-out track and a great introduction to the EP. Moving into the darker sounds of Dawn, the listener is drawn into a dark alleyway of fearsome bass sweeps and delayed percussive FX.
Continuing the journey through Bandicoot’s sound the third track, Left Behind, blends haunting but hopeful tones and striking flutes with rolling shakers, earth-shattering snare hits and a weighty sub to match. Mayan shifts into more tribal, almost glitched-out beats and breaks out into a lively dance-floor skanker which will surely have the listener tapping their feet!
Finally, Legend4ry steps up for remix duties to give us his twist on Dawn in the shape of his Stampede Mix. Transforming the original with shrill, edgy melodies and shuffling break-beats, he creates a dark rumbling riddim which rounds off the EP.
