I admit that this genre is slowly taking over my musical preference lol. I have spent the last two weeks learning the ins and outs of Ableton after 6 years in FL Studio just to get the sound I am trying to achieve. I think I have reached a point where I am comfortable sharing my work with people. Let me know what you think!

This is awesome man. I've recently gotten started using Ableton too; pretty awesome to know these kinds of sounds are possible. Any tips on how you created that main bass sound?

The quality of your source is key, so a nice high quality VST is a great way to start. In this track, the lead was done in NI Massive (which, in my opinion, is by far one of the most suitable plugins for this genre.) Take advantage of all the LFO options and if you are picky (like myself) try to match the frequency in the LFO to whatever key your song is in. That makes the sound mesh very nicely. If you are in Ableton, another nice thing to do is throw an auto filter into the FX of a high quality VST and turn the LFO to "30". Set the sync rate on the LFO to whatever speed you'd like (which can be automated). Again, assign the frequency to match your songs key.

He's got ridiculous amounts of equipment lol. I'm deff diggin' his style, especially with that sax! I respect the fact that he can play all these instruments so well.

Yeah this genre has completely blown me away and is taking over my entire mindset lol. Check out Native Instruments "Massive".

lol same here, on the other side of the spectrum I'm a huge death metal fan actually! But this shit is consuming my ass haha

I love scar symmetry. It's more melodic but it is metal none the less. I'd argue this dubstep genre produces a similar feeling.

If you want to make dirty basslines/leads your best bet is FM synthesis, most dirty electro/dubstep/general nastiness comes from fm, if you are on ableton, OPERATOR synth is a phenominal FM synth, its part of ableton suite. Heads like XI and bombaman only use operator. It has 4 oscillators and the ableton quality is standard accross the board.
I like NI Massive, i have it, but you dont beed it, OPERATOR can do absolutely everything and has great depth.
If you are on ableton suite the only plugin i recommend as a MUST is izotope's ozone for mastering and making things sound banging!

Massive is a nice one to have, Vanguard is also really good quality for electro basses/arpegios, all the patches for it are typically trancy...

Instrument-wise you really dont need much with suite, but processing plugins that you can look into for utility and fun are:
PSP VINTAGE WARMER
SUGARBYTES WOW + robotronic + artillery (for glitching mapable to ur controller)
URS CLASSIC CONSOLE COMPRESSOR bundle

But these are optional you have everything u need in suite, keep in mind that Ableton instruments like Drumrack are the envy of the digital music software industry, this holds true for almost everything in live, dont get caught up in a plugin mindset where you think u need another plugin or something
To achieve qualuty sound. If you have suite have everything you need (altho ozone is a must for quick mastering and demos, its a shame how awesome and easy ut is for geti g your tracks banging properly)

Point taken. Good to know. I am new to Ableton and have yet to play around with the internal synthesizers. I have used FL studio for the past six years, and you are likely familiar with its internals. I will have to look into them and see what kind of results I can get. Thank you for the input for the sake of everyone in this thread lol.

It's good for the most part. Only thing I would say is a bit of high range equalizing.
