i've been through a lot of suggested threads when i search it, and nothing usefull is showing up. I've been working at this shit for days now and to no avail, does anybody have any suggestions / tips, they would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and for an artist to refer to, im looking for some Nit GriT sounding drums, not the samples, but the sequencing. :)

Imitate Nit Grit's patterns yourself?

I've had a listen to a couple of Nit Grit tunes (12 Guage, for example) and there isn't really anything spectacularly different going on. Get yourself an audio editor like Audacity and sample a 4 bar opening drum beat from one of the tunes you like.

Slow it right now in Audacity by adjusting the speed down to 50% or so, then watch the waveform as it plays and you'll be able to 'see' where each hit takes place.

Should give you a better idea of what goes where. Once you're happy, try it with a different tune; compare and contrast any similarities in the drum programming and it should give you any basic guidelines that the artist sticks to when doing their programming.

Then what else can you do?? If you can't replicate his patterns by recreating them how do you expect to imitate them?

dude can you please put what program you use next time you post a question like this it makes a BIG difference in the answer you get.

if you use ableton you can easily import the song you want throw a loop on whatever drum part you like... open a drumkit, start a midi clip, tap out the beat yourself while the song plays and quantize that bitch.

presto.
