New to the Production Game, need some tips.

Hey guys. I really just now got into music production, and I feel dubstep in the way to go, since it is my favorite genre of electronic music. I recently purchased Reason 5 as an upgrade from FL Studio 8 (in my eyes), and I have looked at the production bible and I learned how to create different bass sounds in reason. The major problem I have with composing a track is an intro. I never know what type of synth to use or what type of pattern to follow. I can program and track the drums for the intro correctly, but I always get blocked after that. If anyone could please give me a tip or two, that would be fantastic. Thanks guys!

You don't even need an intro synth anymore, just put your drums like the generic dubstep style (Kick on 1, Snare on 3) for like 32 bars, and then just drop the bass yurd meh.

I really like sort of Progressive House intros to dubstep drops. They are a tad bit lengthy but they really build up well. I usually start with a pluck synth, to a pad, to a hat pattern to a melody, to a rising bass, then drop it. I've kinda gone on this build up style for a while. Or you could do the traditional dubstep, bass and kick with lotsa reverb, build up, then drop. But whatever you do, don't forget the pickles! (spongebob reference, LOL)

Thanks, do you know any good tutorials for thor or malstrom that could give an idea of how to construct these sounds?
