-- XXXY --
We're very excited to be bringing Rupert Taylor, otherwise known as the Manchester-based producer xxxy, over from the UK for his NYC debut.
Since 2006, Taylor has been churning out orchestral-leaning dance music influenced by everything from dubstep, garage, house and various points in between. In 2010, with the single "Know You", he pushed his particular brand of propulsive, foot-forward producing yet forward, earning FACT magazine's nod as one of the year's Best Tunes. In January 2011 the release of "Ordinary Things" was chosen by Pitchfork as Best New Track.
Most recently - today, July 11th, in fact - Taylor released his most recent effort, Orca, an aggresive 12" packed with club-rattling 808s, squased subs, and evident influences from murkier waters. We're beyond pumped to hear this new material in action.
-- LAUREL HALO (LIVE) --
We're excited to welcome Brooklyn's ambient-house darling, Laurel Halo, who has been steadily gaining momentum since last year's King Felix EP release and cultivating her abilities as a full-fledged producer and accomplish live act.
Ann Arbor-born Halo most recently released FACT mix highlights her eclectic taste for everything from Detroit techno and old school hip-hop to glitchy ambience.
-- SHLOHMO (LIVE) --
Shlohmo is the project of Henry Laufer, an LA native who grew up on a steady diet of that good cinematic stuff: DJ Shadow, Amon Tobin, M83, and began producing at the tender age of 14.
Flashing forward to the present, Laufer is part of the LA-based creative collective, Wedidit, which houses the incredible talent of like-minded producers such as Ground Is Lava, Elan, and Juj.
His lo-fi blend of psychedelic and abstract hip-hop, bouncy synth-funk and breezy textures culminates in an August LP debut that we're already excitedly anticipating.
--
Warming things up for the night on decks are local legends Braille and Contakt (TURRBOTAX), as well as a NYC debut from newcomer Comical Sans.
Let's party y'all!
