I've made a few dubstep songs all pretty much learning as i go along, my newest song (Stand right there please...ok good) <- cruddy title i know, is about the closest ive gotten to a sound that is at least satisfactory to me. But yeah, i was just hoping a few of you would listen, maybe post some tips, and lemme know what you think. Thanks in advance

the lead synth is big! luv it, but the kick and snare are pretty much completely lost, have you tried layering up the snare? maybe layering a high cut kick under the snare? they either need to come up in the mix or compressed nicely to bring them out abit, also try sidechaining the kick and snare to your synth/bass to help move the sound abit and also help them punch through a bit more, only slightly tho low ratio and threshold. as i said the lead synth/wobble is good, really like it, but may need to come down abit, and try putting a slight low pass filter on it just to take away some of the harsh top end, again maybe light compression is needed to help take those hard frequencys out, thats just my thoughts! hope it helps

on second thought the lead definatly needs to come down as its drowning everything else out, and have you layered sub bass under the lead sound? listen to it really quietly and you will see what i mean about it drowning out the rest of the tune

Well i really tried my best at getting all the sounds out, mastering is something im not too familiar with yet. The snares and kicks are all layered and compressed, and the main lead/bass is actually layered with a few vst's and i threw camel crusher on for distortion (the crusher is probably whats making it really loud compared to the rest of the song.) im not really well versed into sidechaining however, what would i do for that? i use fl studio, and the only thing i know of with a sidechain function is gross beat.

Oh and thank you very much for taking the time to give it a listen, as well as telling me what you think. i really appreciate it!

thats cool, i dont know i dont use fl studio, youtube sidechaining in fl studio or something, theres loads of tutorials for things like that. i think then you need to bring down the synth and and bring up the drums, wot db are your drums and bass peaking at?

im not sure where they're peaking at, but i brought the bass volume down a bit and the drums definitely came out a lot more. but im still confused on what sidechaining is supposed to do to the mix.

its used for diffrent things, there should be a you tube tutorial on it for fl studio, in this case you would be inputting the kick into a compressor on the synth/bass track, and make it dip in volume slightly when it hits, it may not be what it needs or may not be that effective, its just an idea that i use sometimes.

alright, well i seem to have the sidechaining on the bass, and it works quite well, thanks!
