Hi guys.

Just a quick question really about getting older vinyl releases. Basically I've been mixing on a Mixtrack Pro for 6 months, but I've just got some 1210s, and I've sunk about 100 quid into some records to get started on them, but I've realised a lot of the older releases are sold out; Stuff like loefah and some early skream EPs. Even a Breakage track was sold out on chemical records. Has my chance to get these for a reasonable price gone? Or do some records get re-releases or anything like that? I suppose its my own fault for arriving late to the party. For example I had a look for the root/ the goat stare and on discogs the cheapest is £50.

Do these kind of things pop up on ebay or local record stores if you dig for them? Sorry if these sound like stupid questions, but I'm from the mp3 generation haha.

You're looking at £30 and upwards for anything completely sold out. You might be able to find some a little cheaper if you dig in loads of record shops but i doubt it.

Not entirely... get some stuff bought, and wait for it to sell out (buy the next dmz release, they always sell out)... Then network with some other djs and make a trade.

Just buy new stuff, lots of good releases out every month!

I like this idea lol. I've just got the return II space LP, although I wouldn't fancy trading that off.

I know mate, more records than money can buy at the minute! I love actually owning the record, I think I have some kind of compulsive collecting problem haha. I think its because I'd much rather have the 12" than a bit of data on my computer.

bagged my copy of blue notez for £20 on ebay now i need to find a copy of kromestar - kalawanji / surgery, no way i'm paying £50 for it no matter how big of a tune surgery is!

stuff like midnight request line, night and crunked up have recently got re-releases. i feel your pain though, i really want a copy of rufage/mud but £80 or whatever is a bit steep.

Another absolute tune. I think I'll work my way up to these purchases. I need to build up some stuff to mix with first I think.

I'd rather have 1 record I really want than 6 that I'm not too fussed about

The rule of thumb is always buy two of everything, in case you want to double play a verse/beat juggle/play the b-side... And then when your looking to trade, you take whichever one is most worn out and pawn it off on some other guy.

This vinyl business is an interesting game isn't it? Starting to wish I hadn't spent all my cash in Croatia a few weeks ago now.

Luckily as my collection is only about 30 songs currently, there's plenty of stuff still in stock that I really want. I can have the joy of searching for a copy of badman etc when that's what I really want. Although I do kind of really want it now haha

I picked up Loefah - Mud/Rufage today,
Cost me nothing
Sold in a load of books, got money from them, used that money for the vinyl,
Best way to get more expensive stuff,sell shit you dont want.

Its not just you who has the compulsive collecting problem... I think most people who buy Vinyl or tunes for DJing in general have this. I know I spend every bit of money I get on vinyl. Worth every penny though imo.

Also I spent £40 quid on 'gangsta 4 life'... which is single sided, but its just such a tune.
