Okay so alot of the time when I am reading the forum people are all talking about there mids, highs, lows, frequencies hz stuff..
To be honest I totally dont get it.
I looked for a thread to help with this but found nothing, If someone could redirect me to a thread that helps with this cause i could not find one..
I would really like to further understand these because I am sure better quality of sounds willl come out of my computer if i learn this, thank you.
P.s. If there is no thread already on this, just comment your explanations below i think this thread could become very helpfull because i know
i am not the only one who is asking this.

in a nutshell its just bass (low) Treble (high) and everything inbetween (mids)

you want to make sure the frequencies in your song arent clashing too much because it will sound muddy.
if you're using fruity loops, use the Parametric EQ2 and see what frequencies certain instruments are hitting, and cut any frequencies that are clashing.

i hardly ever produce and dont know all the ins and outs either so im sure someone will explain better than that.

This is one instance where it would be a really good idea to install voxengo span and look at the graph as music
plays.

Human hearing can perceive sounds between approx 20Hz and 20kHz when in tip top condition.

Hertz can be abbrievated as Hz (note the big H = Hertz, like the B in dB, because it's nod of respect to the clever scientist involved)

Hertz = cycles per second, one cycle is a single positive and negative displacement / excursion from the zero position.

Roughly speaking:

20Hz -350Hz = low frequencies / bass
350hz - 6.5kHz mid range
6.5kHz - 20kHz high frequencies /treble

That will get you started, there will be plenty of info available via your internet search engine.

Looking up human hearing would be a good start.

Voxengo SPAN is pure win. I set it up as send effect. Makes it soooo easy to reference frequencies from instruments/drums with a quick send, inspect and done. I definitely agree that you should download it. It's free, so no excuses.

best thing for ur ears is to stick an graphic eq with an analyzer on ur master output, play a song thru ur daw.. and mess with it...

just play with it...

set the highest available band to low pass and sweep through.. do the same with high pass.. and you'll get it.
