My track is kinda silent, even though the master fader is at 0dB and it's peaking just below 0dB.
How can I make it louder with clipping?
thanks!

If your master fader is showing 0dB.... You just need to turn your speakers up x

I'm not saying the actual output is 0dB but my fader position (or what you call it) is at 0 dB ...
my track sounds way more quiet than other tracks in my iTunes library

compression/limiter on the master. and if that doesnt do it, your mix may not be clean enough.

The fader being at 0db just means the audio going into the master channel hasn't been boosted or lowered.
Easy solution: Put a limiter on the master channel and turn the gain knob until it's loud enough.
Correct solution: Learn to mix properly.

Learn to EQ and mixdown properly. a lot of the time a track lacking in the midrange frequencies, the ones that give warmth, is confused for a quiet track. try to eq for more loudness, and use Limiters and compression to increase volume overall

ok. sorry for the newbie-ness ... just trying to understand things clearly.
I have the track sound exactly how I like it at this point, except for that low volume.
From now on, do I only adjust the master track? Or do I have to re-arrange the separate stems to make the whole sound louder?
(really new to mixdowns, so please bear with me)
Thanks for the help, so far!

There are a few ways to get your track louder.
1. Go through and adjust each sound to a higher volume and make sure nothing is too loud or too quiet. (If it all gets too muddy learn how to EQ correctly, you should learn about compression too!)
2. Just put a limiter on the Stereo Output channel, adjust the gain till the track sounds right, you should always refer to a similar track that your trying to create for loudness. Also turn down the Out Ceiling to about -0.5 just to give you abit of headroom.
3. You could just put a gain plugin on the Stereo Output but its probably best you do number 1 or 2.
