hey, i have heard about this technique and i´m sure it is used a lot and is not a hard one. sadly i can´t figure it out and i haven´t found any helpful tutorials on it either. this is a good way of explaining what i´m after:

i have a kick drum and i want to make it sound a little bigger by putting a little reverb on it, but the trick is i only want the reverb to have an effect on the kick itself after the sample plays without affecting it while it is playing. this way the reverb won´t take any power away from the lows and won´t make it muddy. this "technique" obviously can be applied to every effect out there and so on but this is the best way i can explain what i´m looking for.
thanxxxxxx in advance to anyone sharing some info on this, i have fruity loops.

send you kick to a bus/send and add an eq that takes out the lowend then add your verb.

yeah you can do what that guy said, but then also you can then either sidechain that reverb to the kick so that when the kick actually hits it ducks out that reverb and it comes in louder after the kick, or you could alter the initial delay on the reverb so that the reverb doesnt kick in until after the kick and you can alter the delay so it comes in whenever you want, this will give it more of a sucking effect though.

:W:
also works well on basses.
ive also gotten great results adding reverb to the kick and snare and then sidechaining it to a send of the combined kick and snare.
