hello everyone, this is my first time posting in a very long time. When I first joined I was terrible but after knuckling down (and reading alot off this site I think I may have improved a litte I would appreciate all your views and any tips you could offer me for improvement.

I did not turn it off, thats always good. I thought it was going to be crap before the drop. It sick mate...well done. If anything I find the snare is getting masked by the bass' try side-chain compression to help the snare cut through the mix better, only minor though!

would I put compression on the bass the make it not so drowning everything? or the snare to sharpen it up? I am terrible at this EQ and mastering business

Use side chain compression. It's pretty simple and once you do it once you won't even think about it. If your using logic I can show you a good tutorial.

I use FL Studio :/ reckon you could nudge me in the right direction to read into this properly?

Side-chain compression works by place a compressor onto the bass for say and then side-chain (key) the snare or kick to it to that compressor, so every time a snare or kick is played the compressor acts and compressors the signal on the bass, making room for the snare or kick.

Or removing the same frequency range that the snare uses will also make room for the snare, however this can change the overall tone of the bass.

To sidechain in FL Studio...

Open up Fruity Limiter on both tracks that you want to side chain one to the other.

You select the mixing track for the "Kick" and find the mixing track for the "Sub." Look on the mixing board, below sub, and there should be a button that says "FX" and a little down arrow looking thingy right above it.

After selecting the kick, right click the little arrow thingy, and it'll say "Sidechain to this track."

And click it.

Then open up the Fruity Limiter for the sub, look on the interface for a spot that has "--" entered in. Right click the "--" and choose "Kick" (or the name of the first mixing track you're sidechaining.)

Sorry for the vaugeness, I don't exactly remember everything, I just know how to do it. Hope it helps!

Thanking you, and also Subgore! I've worked it out, but like I say my knowledge of mixing down is bad (at its best ) when I use the limiters shit sometimes plays really loud, then other times really quiet :S

All a limiter is doing is making the track peak solidly at one point, so it'll only hit at a max of -3 dbs if you want, instead of being AROUND -3dbs.

-3db of course being used as an example ;P

And mixing knowledge will come in time man, just keep producing!

is the maximus on FL essentially a limiter?

A limiter is a compressor that is compressing at a high ratio 6:1 or higher. I would advice to stay away from limiters because if use wrong they can suck out the dynamics of track and leave it lifeless and dull!
