I love Eno - the "Ambient" series is some of my favorite music ever.

Dubstep is still being invented today. Everyone that currently makes it should be given credit to the "invention" of it. As we all make little changes that could have big impact to the genre later on. Once all the changing slows down, maybe we can find out who had huge impacts. Like Rusko, who clames he invented Bro.

Eno is probably in the top 10 most important people in how electronic music has progressed though. Though I like his stuff in Roxy Music and his ambient stuff for me it'll always be his album Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy), especially this:

Recorded in 1974, so ahead of its time.

I love Brian Eno, but I imagine his influence must be pretty minimal; about as minimal as, say, Tangerine Dream or Cluster. But how about "Blade Runner"? Given the amount of samples and nods to Vangelis' "Blade Runner" score, I imagine its influence to be HUGE. The evocation of a sci-fi future urban (London) dystopia: If one had to point to a benchmark *outside* of or prior to techno, this would have to be at or near the top, wouldn't it? I mean, personally, Burial to me is basically what a "Blade Runner" sequel should sound like (although I hope there isn't an actual sequel, I'm sure they'd muck it up). Kuedo's recent excellent LP is practially a "Blade Runner" tribute...

I believe Bryan Ferry invented dubstep with Roxy Music, actually.

Eno just likes to hog the credit.
