I should have done my homework before upgrading (beyond seeing that Digital Performer works with Lion fine reportedly) as I found out tonight after upgrading my mbp to Lion that none of my NI software runs (reaktor, massive, kontakt, guitar rig, etc. all crash) NI acknowledges it and says there should be a fix out in september. Just a heads up incase anyone else was about to take the plunge.

MAC OS always seems to have this issue. I'm running Windows 7 at the moment so I don’t have these issues, but I remember when I was going graphic & web design for a company a wile back. We upgraded all the MAC OS's and all the sudden all of the Adobe products would no longer work. And Adobe makes most of the software we were using (especially since they own macromedia).

Your IT department was run by morons, or they got pressured by stupid bosses then.

If you're not a casual mac user (there's a ton of them) and you use mac for any type of production, you should wait a few months to upgrade (probably about 6 to ensure everything is running smoothly). Sure, it's a fault on Mac, but they are just optimizing code and throwing out redundant things.
