Lack Of Artwork On New Releases

I'm a bit pissed off that i just copped Wheel & Deal 017 + 018 (Kutz: Superman, Killawatt: Shakuhachi) and they both came in plain black sleeves..... 2 issues for me here, firstly when you see a release on a website advertised with artwork and then receive it in a blank sleeve it is really disappointing. :x

Also just the general lack of full sleeve artwork on releases these days. I understand that this is caused by the ever increasing costs involved... but realistically i'd much prefer to pay an extra £1 on a release if it came with artwork. End of the day investing in vinyl is becoming less and less affordable and for me having a physical copy with a beautiful cover makes it all worth the while for me (aside from sound quality etc) A side issue is also that sometimes you buy a record which comes in a plain sleeve when you know for a fact that there is a proper sleeve out there... you even get stung for bagging tunes as soon as they come out sometimes.

So does anybody know whether these 2 said releases should have come with full sleeve artwork or is it just the website using the disc artwork to promote the product ?????

Also does anybody know how much extra costs are involved per record to provide artwork? I reckon even hand stamping/stenciling a little logo on a plain sleeve would go a long way....

Arggggghhhhhhh. Rant over /

I bought the wheelers and dealers vol 2 and it came in a nice sleeve.

On chemical the Kutz release is just displayed as having artwork on the label? Doesn't show the sleeve.

I'm generally not too bothered and tbh I quite dig having a lot of stuff on white label :)

I have major beef with this aswell,i have no problem getting plain sleeves. But i do have a problem with it being advertised with a nice cover and then when you get it,its blank.

If it's going to be blank, please specify! W+D used to do covers,im sure they stopped to save money, but they should let people know at least.

Yeah i think on the websites it should clearly state "with full artwork sleeve" or something to that affect ....

I see your point but I don't really care if there's no artwork as long as the tunes are good.. that's all that should matter anyway.

If your buying test presses then don't expect artwork.

Theres like 2 vinyl shops in the town centre (bearing in ming theres 1million ppl+ in Birmingham) and I know for a fact that the basement phat which has all the dubstep tunes treats its stock so badly that I wouldn't be surprised if it damaged a batch of vinyl covers and had to pack all the the vinyl is black basic sleeves, so check to find out if its the store you're going to...
